They are truly master of all trade tires, never had so much satisfaction from any other tire I have used so far, was wary about it being an MT as a daily driver but this one surpassed it all.

A 9 inch wheel is 10 inches wide. A 12.50 inch wide tire has 10 to 10.50 inch wide tread width. The 295 is 12 inches wide on a 8.5 inch wide wheel or 12.2 on a 9 inch wide wheel and reduces the diameter from 34.4 to 34.3 inches. The 35x12.50 is 12.9 inches wide on a 10 inch wide wheel or 12.5 on a 9 inch wheel and increases the diameter to 34.8 inches. A 295 on a 8.5 (9.6 inch tread width) and a 12.50 on a 9(10.2 inch tread width) is what's nessasary for optimal pavement wear but a 295 on a 9 inch wide wheel is fine, except for off road wheel damage and tire popping off the bead below 15 psi(for this wieght of vehicle). But a 6 lbs differance might = better mpg's and the .6 inch narrower tread width might be better for ice. Personally for a all year around, multipurpose 35 inch tire size I would pick a 285/75r18(the G003 is available in this size but would require a different set of 5 wheels) on a 18x8 or 18x7.5. The listed tire dimentions are determined by inflating the tire to it's maximum rated psi, letting the tire rest for 3 days, then measuring the diameter, laying the tire down on it's side(with out the weight of the vehicle or wieght of the tire on the tire). The tire difference will be approximatly .5 inches in height and .3 inches in width. All in good spirit, just some things to ponder.🤔😁👍

wide mud tires i've always thought to be silly. skinny mud tires are where its at..the narrow the tire the less shit the tires have to move to the side to get moving. "wide tires dont "make you float",deflated tires do.. wide tires just impart less weight downward hence decreasing your traction.. deflating tires down to 15psi turn your round wheel into a mini track i have a 2wd ram 1500 with pizza cutters(235/80/17) duratracs and a limited slip diff..that thing just loves the mud and slick stuff.it has 400lb right over the rear axle in the bed and even in snow drives great.. I guess it has an easier time cutting down the snow and "finding" the road
@dalestephens51763 жыл бұрын
Wider = more air = more float.
@Linguaholic233 жыл бұрын
Dale , you clearly are not an seasoned Offroader... The Thinner and taller the tire the better traction it has offroading. You dont need Wider tires but "longer" tires. Longer by Deflation, and for propper deflation you need a tall-ish tire to have plenty of touch with the ground in the length.
@Jtwizzle2 жыл бұрын
Interesting take on the subject. Looking at 255 85 16 for a tacoma instead of the 285 75 16. Less or no rubbing with the skinny tire.
@jamesnm212 жыл бұрын
Depends. On hard pack snow you're not going to find the pavement anyway so a wider tire gives you more contact with the snowpack. I went to a 265 from a 235 on my plow truck in the rear and never noticed much difference really no matter what the conditions were. I still have 235s on the front but will eventually put 265s on.

@@jamesnm21 a little buyers regret here but went with the bfg KO2’s. They were about $550 cheaper than the Yoko’s (can’t find the KM3’s anywhere) and I’m putting the $550 into a winch and dual battery setup. When I arrived at the shop, they had a fresh set of the yokos in the size I need, mounted on a jeep and I do have to say, they are an amazing aggressive looking tire! Still hard to go wrong with the KO2’s for an AT.

it's going to be interesting to see what you think when you have them on , your oldman is going to get a lot of life out of those x-at's as they still look new, have you thought of doing a chork test on them to check your inflation pressure might be interesting because of their thicker sidewalls and carcus , I see Mickey Thompson have released a new hybrid tyre looks very similar to the Yokohama x-at (baja boss a/t) based off the mud tyre it looks good as well. be interested to see how it goes after its been out for a couple of mouths

Having seen how BFG now tests sidewalls, I'm sure that even if others do as well, none could be any better. Thing is, how would you know if others do as well?
