I know we didn’t have the right tyres for this terain! Even more important is that the bikes are too heavy, even with knobbies, this was waaay too muddy! But struggle isn’t always negative, I’m sure I’ll never forget the day we dropped the bikes 6 times in half a day 😆 In the future I’ll buy a CRF or some other lightweight bike with knobbies and then I’ll be able to really push it!

I have the pirelli’s also on my tenere. Good tyre they just don’t like mud and sand 😆. Nice video with lots of fun. 👍🏽

Looks like a load of fun! I would seriously consider changing your tires to some 50/50's if you intend to do this more in the future. Come up to the North of the Netherlands some time to enjoy the TET loop in Drenthe! :)

@@thebrightrider Sorry but no. your tires are 70 % road/30 % trail or maybe just 80/20. For your Dad, i have same tires on my Tiger 900 GT. Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR are 60 % road / 40% trail. Real 50/50 tires would really help you there. But, true, mud is mud… Great video; congrats.

Like your style: no blah blah. Just being as you are. Not pretending. Love your vids. Making all the beginner mistakes I made as well, but having fun anyway. Great stuff. Just keep on going, learning by doing. Mastering a heavy bike in tricky conditions is hard but rewarding. I think your dad is a lucky guy, having this adventure ride thing going with his son. He doesn’t seem to be someone that would speak it out loud, but my guess is that he’s really happy being on the road with you. Nice duo!

First of all, your dad is the true hero in this video... riding around with the crocs on the back like a true Champ 👏🏻 Love it 🤣 The one how knows...knows 🤣🍻 Looks like you guys had a hard time on some parts, well... best way to learn is to get out there and have fun. Thanks Thomas! Yes the tyres weren’t good for this, but I think the weight is even more important, it was just waaay to muddy for a 200+kg bike.. in the future I’ll buy a CRF or some small bike with knobbies on, then I’ll do some real offroad! 😁 and yesss, don’t get me started on the crocs XD

Good effort guys! 👏 Your bikes would be ok in the mud with better tyres.. but even then, I’d expect to fall off a lot, Ruts can be a nightmare! I wear a lot more armour. Look forward to more! I just finished a TET adventure on my 390 with a friend on a CB500X, ended in disaster! 🙈 Video next Sunday.

Just what I wanted to see.... me & my wife have just bought a pair of CB500Xs for our retirement, and we'd like to do some of the easier TET sections in 2022. As others have said, it's great that you are doing this with your Dad.... but tell him to smile once in a while!!! :D :D Keep up the good work!!!

Exiting stuff. Always a pleasure to see you and your dad together on these adventures. You could do with some more aggressive tires on your CB500X. I put Mitas E07+ tires on my bike for the summer vacation in France, that made things a lot easier on rocky hills and mud. Now the bike is back on Conti TA3 roadtires, I wont be doing anything but paved roads the coming months. And you're right, GoPros do seem to make steep inclines look a lot less steep. A bit further into the Alpes you can find a lot of exciting roads and tracks. Sorry but not always a good idea. Even more for the CB500X with cast aluminium wheel. He could broke his wheels with lower psi.

Does your Dad miss the Himalayan on the trails or does he prefer the Tenere ?

Getting there was 3 hours on the Highway. Then I prefer the Tenere. Picking the bike up on the Trail. Then I prefer the Himy. Riding in mud is a struggle, on both bikes.
