Just wanted to let you know I appreciate the videos you've been putting together. I'm planning on selling my Jeep Grand Cherokee sometime next year and moving into a Forester XT and while some videos for off road and overland Subarus are out there they are still few and far between. Videos like this help put together the basic blueprint for how to get the build started. Thanks for documenting the process.

Great videos! But, venting the diff inside the car? Do you smell it on a hot summer day?

Craig Villmer no smells yet, but may relocate into the snorkel when I get one

Venting behind the hatch would probably be a nice place

Maybe wouldn't be so bad if you use some grape scented diff fluid I've seen before. LöL

Can the diff cover be removed by lowering the diff but not removing it?
@ignitionoffroad5028
@ignitionoffroad5028 4 жыл бұрын
E Jayone possibly but it’s easy enough to remove and gives you much better access that way as well

What about the centre diff?

As far as I am aware there is no breather for it so a proper diff breather is not required.

Did you use any sealant on the thread?

Just plumbing tape. The rear diff doesn’t get too hot so I think that should do the job

Hey Mate, your vids are awesome! (Subscribed) I too appreciate all your hard work and enjoy your style of video. I own a 1998 Subaru Forester and have started the quest for more offload capabilities. The Subie-Lift-Oz lift kit will be my next big mod thanks to your videos otherwise i wouldn't have found them. Only thing is (not sure if its because my model is older) i was told not to exceed a 2 inch lift front and back to keep my CV's safe and healthy, did you get told the same thing? how are your CV boots? Especially in the rear? Thanks for showing me how to DIY my Foz a diff breather Definitely a must do for anyone who intends on crossing mid depth water in their Subaru So im guessing Snorkel & Custom made bull bar with winch next? 😉👍🏽

Hi there mate, did you have to use the same differential gasket or did you have to buy a new one upon reinstallation? Thanks.
@ignitionoffroad5028
@ignitionoffroad5028 6 жыл бұрын
I used the same one, however I probably should have put a new one in

mifki once I dropped the diff out with the driveshafts still attached I just popped them out and then reversed the process putting back in

could care less UEL. Stands for unequal length headers, and is what gives a Subaru its classic rumble.
