Excellent work!!! You are the second BBQ person who goes for stainless steel on youtube I have seen so far.

I'm building one very similar. 80 gallon compressor tank but I used 5 inch chimney and I hope itsbig enough. Fire box is a round furnace 1/4 thick but only 18 inch diameter. I can't wait to try mine.

You should be fine with the 5 inch stack. I use it all the time. I have 8 butts to smoke this weekend

Great work! Do you notice any difficulty with fire control by not having a damper outside the fire box?

Thanks....none, there is no difficulty that I notice. For the most part I leave the door open about an inch or so. Holds temperature really well

Great build, how did you figure out the cut out on your fire box to the cook chamber? That's my only drawback, before I build,,, any help would be greatly appreciated, but non the less, your smoker looks great!
@harbaughsworkshop2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, honestly I lifted the firebox in place with my lift cart, marked where the tank would rest up against the firebox. I didn't want the opening too big so I started at four and half inches down by 14 inches wide and I cut the ends at 45 degrees( figuring I could cut more if I had to). It turned out to being perfect

How long did the build take you? Nice garage build! Can’t wait to tackle own smoker soon!
@harbaughsworkshop Жыл бұрын
It took me about 10 days. It ended up being a full weekend. During the week I worked on it after work and the following full weekend . I let it sit for a couple of days after painting and then did the burnout.

Did you use a baffle plate coming out of the firebox to the cook chamber? I think I saw a baffle shield/plate that pointed the heat up.
@harbaughsworkshop Жыл бұрын
I did not put a baffle plate in, what you see is part of the firebox. What I do also use is a quarter hotel pan. This acts as my water pan

@harbaughsworkshop Жыл бұрын
Hey Jimmy, Thank you, it was a lot of fun making it. I will be working on another smoker soon. Offset smoker cost breakdown $700 materials $840 mp200 welder using a coupon code like the one in my description Total $1540 Extra purchases $148 new helmet, this was an upgraded my old helmet (excellent helmet if you looking to buy one) $199 hydraulic table cart was optional, but i am glad I bought it Total $347 in optional purchases I am guessing the weight to be around 600lbs

nice build! did you have any issues getting old air compressor gunk out of the tank?
@harbaughsworkshop Жыл бұрын
Thanks, it wasn't that back. I used a wire wheel and was covered in it when I was done lol. Overall it cleaned out nicely. I then seasoned it.

Nice build, did you burn out the air tank or give it any other prep before use?
@harbaughsworkshop Жыл бұрын
I did clean out the tank first with a grinder and then I did a burn out for several hours before the first use. I used a spray oil inside

Inside the smoker, and inside the firebox I sprayed down with cooking spray. I built a fire in the fire box nice and hot. I held the temperature at 450°F ( 232°C) for about 5 hours.
