They are small enough to pass though the levelwind eye. Duct tape is a game changer in the rig.

Hi there! Great tutorial ! I am new to kite fishing and you tell us to use 75 yards for release clips spacing. Yet all others tutorial says 75 feet... which one should I use? Thank you for your help.

We are using 75 meters usually. Keeps the kite higher in the air and the clip closer to the water so we can get tight as fast as possible. Good luck.

What did you guys do for the yeti gobox handle? Been thinking about using one for a tacklebox but didn’t like that there wasn’t a handle.

Just grabbed a handle off Amazon. Makes it way easier to pull out of deck holds.

Where did you get the battery for your electric reel. That has to be one of the most compact ones I have seen. Haven’t seen anyone do a video on the backpack rig flyer if you have any input on that.

Battery is from ebay but stay away. We have had all 6 of them die in short order. I don't know of a better solution right now. We'll add backpack flyer to the list of topics. Good one.

I've done this a lot for yellowfins on the East Coast off North Carolina. We would run the line from the rod through a split ring or other similar ring and then clip the ring to the arm of the release clip. I noticed you didn't do that. Florida guys use rings as I described when they fish live baits off kites. I didn't know if maybe you've ever had any trouble with the line binding up in the clip, being that the line direction and release clip position are parallel?

We never really saw the need. Totally familiar with the technique but I think that was used more before braid was predominant.

@@LocalKnowledge Fair enough. I was just curious. R&R Tackle is actually making kite release clips that are perpendicular to the line direction now which would alleviate any need to use rings and make adjustments to your bait position much easier. The situation I spoke of in my original comment about kite fishing for yellowfins, we were using braid as well. The reason we opted to use the rings was because we were using flying fish lures under the kite and were trolling at 5 to 7 knots. The kite would move around so much that the ring would allow us to re-position the bait as needed and prevent the line from binding up in the clip. We were doing this off the Outer Banks of North Carolina where wind and current conditions weren't the easiest to deal with. They don't call it the grave yard of the Atlantic for nothing.

Would like to know who the 6 people are that thumbs downed this video, probably people that don’t want others to show people how to fish or are just against fishing in general most likely 🙄? guarantee even with this tutorial if you go to fly a kite for your first few times at least, there’s still going to be a lot of learning to do on your own in order to fish effectively. Certainly helps though. 👍 guys.
