This video explains the thought process involved in planning an offshore fishing trip that will allow you to take advantage of any recent info you have about biting fish but also set you up to have a fallback plan or two in case the fish that bit yesterday don't bite today.

Erik - Thank you for posting this! I really like the approach you take to your articles and videos. This quite possibly is one of the best videos all weekend warriors should watch before heading out. So good!!! (and keep them coming!)

14:00 -- That's a great point about "going home with a clear conscience" and feeling good about not catching fish. How many hobbies have we all quit because we were so dejected? At least with your calculated method of searching, if no fish appear, then we can remove our self-doubt more easily and be more energized to go fishing another day.

Erik, thanks for this video. Noob question for a PBoater…For tuna fishing, does one need to hit the top of the slack high tide, or the bottom of the low tide? What’s best for tuna fishing? Thanks.

Rainshadow Judge Series 810L with 4 inches cut off the tip matched with a Penn Fathom 25N lever drag full. This set up can fish 16 to 30 pound test. If you're not fishing light line you can get away with an 810M (for 30 to 50 pound).
