Stephen King and George A. Romero were good friends, and always wanted to work with each other on a film. This was their opportunity, and they took it. The crew was also the crew for Sleepaway Camp (1983) according to Jonathan Tiersten. Rice Krispies were used as maggots on the corpse's eyes in the first story, "Father's Day". In addition, real maggots were also utilized. Hal Holbrook and Adrienne Barbeau appeared in The Fog (1980), however they didn't share any scenes together. The music playing on Upson Pratt's jukebox at the beginning of "They're Creeping Up on You!" is the same instrumental that plays over the ending credits of The Evil Dead (1981). The only George A. Romero film where he didn't write the screenplay.

I was a wee lad on trip out on a London bus tour to see the Oxford street lights. Now, as I recall, it was absolutely pissing it down, causing massive condenstion and window fogging. I can't recall the lights, but I do recall at one point giving the window a good rubbing and seeing the markee poster for creepshow (the same one in the thumb nail above), and it scared the gubbins off me!

IAIN HAS RETURN!!! AWESOME!!! And he returns with reviewing Creepshow! How ironic! Because Creepshow is one of my all time favorite horror films! My favorite segment is "Something To Tide You Over!" Mainly because of Leslie Nielsen's performance! He's best known for comedy, but I never thought he could play a sly and an intimating murderer! He really surprised me! I personally enjoyed all the segments, besides the last one. Not because I'm afraid of bugs, but just how slow and boring it was. And compared to the other 4 stories, it just feels out of place. But that's just my opinion. Creepshow is a MUST WATCH if you're a horror fan! Thanks for reviewing this one guys! And welcome back again, Iain! We missed you! And tell Jess we really appreciated his presents while Iain was away! 👍

I think "From a Whisper to a Scream" is an underrated horror anthology. There is crazy taboo-level stuff in its four segments, and the wraparound story involves Vincent Price, in his last horror film role, telling a reporter that the Southern town they're in is the epicenter of evil. The director Jeff Burr directed a slew of horror movie sequels like "Pumpkinhead II," "Stepfather II," "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III," and two "Puppet Master" sequels.

Personally the last story was actually the most terrifying for me (I genuinely cried at one point 🙂) and it made me realize that when we see things like monsters and people killing each other it is scary but we don't really feel the danger because we've generally never been in those situations we don't know what it's like. But we've all been in contact with cockroaches and bugs and food gone bad and filled with some parasites or whatever so we KNOW what it's like and to see it on screen makes us remember that so it's really really terrifying...

It's a shame King played it so silly in The Lonesome Death as the story itself is quite horrific. The idea of this thing consuming your body like a cancer and that type of body horror is always terrifiying and the implication at the end that it's spreading to a potential apocalypse! There's also something tragic about dying alone like that. But it's all undermined by the goofy tone.

Concerning the cockroaches in “They’re Creeping up on You”, they weren’t purchased individually. The Museum of Natural History sent two entomologists (Ray Mendez and David Brody) into Trinidad caves to collect the 18,000 OG roaches by plunging holes into waist deep rivers of bat dung from which the roaches emerged. The roaches were bred by the same two entomologists on set in a trailer they called the “Roach Motel.” As you can imagine, most of the cast and crew were freaked out sharing the set with the roaches, especially during shooting when they would get loose on set. Several of the roaches escaped the entomologists while onset, during shooting. The ones whom weren’t lucky enough to escape were exterminated. I got this info from watching the behind the scenes film “Just Desserts”- The Making of Creepshow.”
