I think the girls have said that they film dance practices with every comeback since the beginning. Just for some reason SM has never released them. Up until recently, every comeback (minus Psycho as I'm sure they never got around to filming one due to Wendy's accident) has been given a dance practice. The last comebacks were Umpah Umpah, Monster and Hello, which all got dance practices.

they may not have the sickest choreography, y'all can't deny red velvet has the VOCALS and VERSATILITY. in other words, they are the ACES when it comes to all girl groups active now. choreography does not equate alone with performance. that has been proven by red velvet and that's what I love about them. i never thought of using the word timeless for the song, but i agree! in my opinion it's really easy to like the song and it feels timeless because the progression and feel of the song is similar to classic pop songs like "Picture of You by Boyzone" and "Stop by Spice Girls"

When I first heard "Umpah Umpah", it seemed a little meh to me. The genre, the style, the theme... it seemed a little too pop'ish and devoid of character. 30-40 seconds into it, I got it. It's way more than the sum of its parts, and the individual performances, the harmonies, and the overall composition makes this an incredibly pleasing song. It unfolds in such a satisfying manner. And on top of that, very typical of Red Velvet songs, you need to watch their dance practices or live stages to understand how good the choreography is, because as opposed to TWICE videos, they don't show as much of the choreo in the MVs themselves. Also... Seulgi... she is unbelievable.

'Umpah Umpah' is a word used in Korea when they first learn swimming and try to hold their breath underwater. They practice regular breathing by saying 'um' as they inhale and 'pah' as they exhale. that's why sometimes their arm movements look like there swimming. Are going to do their Japanese MVs also? Song of the Year Umpah Umpah. It was the first one to get rewarded SOTY of 2019 between Zimzalabim, Umpah Umpah and Psycho. It’s actually the middle child bc people really didn’t like this song. Hence this comeback was a bit rushed. Anyway in the MV, when RV was under the table, Yeri was the only one not under there. It symbolizes how they were 4 before Yeri came in, but once Yeri joined them under the table, they were complete. From shouting out MJ’s songs in Dumb Dumb to here shouting out their songs. I’m so happy there’s a dance practice bc RV are underrated when it comes to dances of course we know about Seulgi being an ACE. Well the song is lowkey about drowning😀. Umpah umpah is the correct way to breathe while swimming and at yeri's part she pronounce umpah pah, which the wrong way to breathe (basically she like tempted that person to breathe incorrectly), that's why she say did you lost the beat☠️
