RETIRED DANCER'S REACTION+REVIEW: TWICE "Signal" M/V+Dance Practice!

WTF DOES “OG KPOP STAN" EVEN MEAN?!
Supposedly "original gangster”, can be seen as “old generation", personally viewed as “old-school”.🤓
I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Korean and rap music were my coping mechanisms from the bullying I experienced in middle school through high school and my love for the genre has stuck by me ever since.
Unfortunately, I took a huge break from Korean music around 2015 when I was officially diagnosed with lupus nephritis and seizures; I was receiving and battling years of chemotherapy and dialysis along with taking 32 pills a day, so I had no mental/emotional/spiritual room to keep myself updated with the genre. Luckily, I'm in remission now! Doesn't mean that lupus and seizures are gone because I am still very capable of frequent flare-ups of I don't take care of myself, but I make sure to do so enough to manage and live as "normally" as possible.
When I made this KZbin name, I was thinking from my graphic-design-major perspective of a brand that will not only describe what my content will be about but will also align with the times, and y’all know that “Kpop stans” have been a thang for awhile now so hence the cringe-worthy title, OG KPOP STAN. (My love for Eminem is also relevant.😂) ALSO! Just to be SUPER clear- me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" does NOT mean that anyone who's listened to kpop after me is inferior or less-than. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time. Please don’t get that sh*t twisted.😛

Now here's the thing: the mv of knock knock is like the continuation of the mv preceding it (that is, TT). Fun facts: Jihyo was sitting in the car because she was recovering from knee surgery so they thought it was a fun way to incorporate her into the video. Signal was voted the worse song in Kpop when it was released but ended up winning song of the year...lol The power of TWICE has always been there :) This song is iconic!!!

A lot of people didn't understand the MV that's why they hated it but Signal was the deepest Twice MV imo. The person they're trying to impress was ignoring them, hence an alien who doesn't understand. Their powers were more like a representation of their individual talents, and they're trying to show it off to the alien but to no result. The end was the most brilliant thing. In the end they became aliens, a representation that they themselves are alien to someone else's feelings no matter how obvious it is. In short, the one you like who doesn't notice you is an "alien", just like how you're an "alien" to the person who likes you.

im pretty sure the mv means twice are actually aliens who are trying to communicate to the alien so they can go home. the alien is ignoring them because the alien thought they were just trying to show their interest in him but they were just trying to communicate to go home hence the "signal miscommunication" and the ending just proves it.

Yeah! It's like the saying "like a fool in love" The alien is a fool for not getting the signal (or ignoring). And then twice member became the fool itself, for still chasing after the alien even though the alien clearly ignored them.

SIGNAL is a definition of a distorted masterpiece Many people outside the fandom and even inside the ONCE fandom slandered this song for being very disjointed at first listen (including myself) !! Twice always had a leftfield aspect to their songs & videos. I can't wait to see your reactions to their earlier songs [as you are going backwards through their music catalogue], all I can say is they hit the ground running & always improved. Their music & dance routines always cheer me up, especially if I had a bad day. I am impressed with their routines especially since they are 9 members & managing to keep the formations so tight.
