Small correction: While [Soften Them Up] does work to increase the damage over time effects - it only activates on melee hits!

thats rly good to know, i was upset that taking rocks plus a rumbler in a point blank build (for monster killing) would prevent me from getting soften them up, but if it doesnt work on range damage im much more happy to leave it behind.

Thank You. This should be made clear; it changes everything. And since it is on the gun side of the build, there is nothing to suggest it only works on melee (other than the feeling that it is too powerful with the Stubber which can hit many different enemies quickly all over the battle field, giving a near-universal team-wide 15% damage buff.)

A friend of mine is running a gun-ogryn build using the Achlys stubber, rocking the Charmed and also Blazed away. I was using the Gorgonum since it deals more damage per shot, but I've become convince the Achlys might be better and have picked it up myself. It fires quicker, which gives it more chances-per-second to proc things like the Charmed loading a little more ammo, and way more chances to proc Lucky Bullet etc. Anyway, pair that up with the Light 'Em Up talent that makes shots during Point-Blank Barrage apply burn, it eats monstrosities alive in seconds. I'd heartily recommend it.

@J.B.1982Ай бұрын
I've been going down the middle keystone and I like that better. Point Blank is my "clear whatever is in front of me" button. I spend a lot of time in melee. I have don't take the multi hit toughness regen node and put the toughness regen blessing on my Borovian. I don't know how well it would do on an Auric Maelstrom but it's a solid build and I don't rip through all the ammo with it.

I play something similar since patch 13 actually. Heavy Dual Linked Stuber, with Charmed Reload and Ceasless Barage. Procing Lucky Bullet triggers Charmed Reload and stacks together with critical chance, so +5% on weapon and Massacre +8 brings you to a total of 18% crit and 8% lucky bullet. With 130 bullets in my weapon, rougly 50 bullets on avarage being added in through Charmed Reload and instant reload on the use of Point-Blank Barrage this means I have around 350 shots in total.
@minhkieu21 Жыл бұрын
I totally would take heavy hitter keystone instead of lucky bullet. It makes the club goes even harder and would help reach you at certain break points to to one shot flamers and mutant, while saving ammo for the bigger threats like shooter patrols and boss. But with heavy hitter club you could solo spawn and pogryn. I found lucky bullet does barely anything meaningful and it really needs a rework. So far, most of my ogryn build all goes into heavy hitter or feel no pain keystone as they do make some significant improvement to my experience. My loadout are exactly similar, bully club I and ripper V. Can’t go wrong with these two ever since pre-patch. Looking forward to more build and longer gameplay showcase like these.

Not having done the breakpoint testing myself I will say my instinct is that the ripper gun would benefit from maniac over flak in your build.
@jiedimo787 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I'd say maniac is a must have on the ripper mk 5 since it lets you kill trappers in one burst and flamers in two bursts more reliably. Flak is also great since you're going to be shooting a lot of elites. I'd actually say unyielding feels unnecessary since you can still delete any boss in seconds if you take can opener over flechette. Can opener IV makes your ripper gun shots deal around ~38% more damage to unyielding enemies. If you factor in extra damage bonuses like reloaded and ready, soften them up, payback time, and blaze away, you really don't need more boss damage.
@rykenxiv Жыл бұрын
Flak is to improve the burning damage against Flak armour - making it more effective against patrols of Maulers and Ragers!
@rykenxiv Жыл бұрын
That's a fair point! I think depending on how you'd like to take the Ripper, taking maniac over unyielding is certainly a viable choice! For this build, I wanted to go all-in against Monsters hence why Unyielding was my choice!

@rykenxiv Жыл бұрын
I had the same thought as well, and while the Stubbers can kind of pulloff the same level of destruction, it takes much longer to down a monster (avg 30 seconds or so for Stubbers vs ~20 seconds for Ripper Guns) as Stubbers can't fully make use of Point Blank Barrages reload speed and doesn't have bleed damage!

Technically you can use any Ripper - but I the Ripper V works the best because the fire rate of it allows you get Burn stacks up faster and make the most of the 10 seconds of Point Blank Barrage! Try it out with the other Rippers and see what you think!

Wouldn't calvacade be better in this particular build than blaze away?

I initially had cavalcade as the core blessing, but after much testing and math, Blaze Away made the overall damage output more consistent then having more crits to proc bleed!

I have been running my Ripper guns with Cavalcade and Flechette to maximize bleed output. It can kill a crusher in one box-mag on any mark of the weapon. I'd be interested to know how the extra damage from the crit and bleed compares to just running blaze away.
@rykenxiv Жыл бұрын
I initially also had Cavalcade and Flechette setup! But after going through more testing, because Blaze Away improves the damage of Light'em Up and Bleed, it works out much better in terms of scaling in those short 3 mags. Before I needed to wait to for a chaos spawn to tick down, but with Blaze Away, I could basically down it just as I used up my 3rd Mag

I still wish they would buff the ripper guns more. They still feel weak comoared to what they should be. I never see ogryn using them in damnation. I only see thumper, the nade lobber and heavy stubber builds. Lore wise they are more powerful than a bolter, even giving space marines issues control wise due to the heavy recoil overpowering them (ogryn are stonger than your average space marine). Yet here they are pretty much the same (stagger, mag dumping, damage, overall effectiveness) minus the bolter being able to do better against flak & carapace, and precision pick range opponents in one shot kills, where rhe ripper gun must dump a few shots. Ultimately I wish the ripper gun got like 20% more controllability, 15% tighter spread, some extra pellets in each shot, like 25% more damage overall (if all oellets hit target), and a extra bonus against unarmored and flak damage. And up magazine to 25 rounds.

Ngl, i dont see the point of lucky bullet. Its both rare to trigger and not very strong. One whole additional ammo is nothing, not at 8% chance. It should be buffed, and massively so, to at least 30%. Ability cooldown reduction it gives is negligible and crit on lucky bullet is nothing. You might as well not take keystone at all and pick more passives. Or free few more points and get feel no pain. I get what its not thematic, but the whole point of the talent tree is to mix and match, so why not?
@vahnn0 Жыл бұрын
Yeah it's not good on small mag guns, at least in the short term. I'm the long run that amounts to probably 30+ free shots over the course of a mission when it comes to the ripper guns. I think it's centered around the 100+ round cannons. If they changed it to somehow scale the chance based on magazine size, that would be huge.
@sporepda Жыл бұрын
@@vahnn0 and autocannons dont need it either. They already have amazing perk for ammo management, plus, one autocannon bullet worth even less than ripper gun one. So lucky bullet stuck in this weird limbo - ripper guns and autocannons dont need it and dont get much vaule out of it and boomsticks trigger it so rarely what its not worth it

@@agedgouda8809 OR he can take both crit and dmg, not take lucky bullet at all, have it all the same, only his crit chance (and charmed reload chance by proxy) be higher, so he will be able to shoot even more. @agedgouda880911 ай бұрын
@@sporepda how are you getting 20 crit chance? without a psyker then should be 15, im assuming 5 base and 5 on a perk. im missing another 5 somewhere. what blessings and perks would you run on a stubber if you were gonna take feel no pain or no keystone instead? my thinking w/ lucky bullet is if you hit that 15 or 20 crit chance, now you have 23 to 28 crit chance with 8 percent chance to also save 1 more bullet. with something like the achlys stubber that lil extra chance gets u into the realm of silly uptime. btw i do agree with you that lucky bullet is undertuned and overrated, i just think it performs best on the stubbers and is at least worth considering there
@AndyAttrition Жыл бұрын
the last 3 points in the talent tree are just wasted. Burst Limit Override is just no worth it. there is no significent increas in ammunition nor crit gained. steady grip, peacemaker and the +10% toughness dmg reduction are better investments.
@rykenxiv Жыл бұрын
It certainly could be better than it is now, but given the other options available, what essentially amounts to an extra 8% crit does come up and helps with Monster DPS. Having tested having none of the nodes vs the 3 I've selected on some 40 monsters or so, sometimes the extra crit getting off to refresh the bleed from Flechette helps - especially if you're dealing with monsters from further than 15m (bleed damage as no falloff after all). But all the comments saying that BLO isn't great have merit in them. 3 points for 8% crit and a near non-existent ammo return? Surely there are other places those points can be better spent. That being said, I also have other builds in the works, so as much as I can, I want to differentiate them as much as possible with loadouts that can ( or at least try to) make the most of the talents selected!
@draketurtle416911 ай бұрын
@@rykenxivI might be mistaken but it cannot be 8% additional crit chance, it’s two separate calculations being done, a say 15% chance then an 8%, so of those 15% of shots that are crits they could be lucky bullets (crits) but they can’t crit crit. So wouldn’t the probability be closer to 15% + 8% of the remaining 85% that were not crits to begin with? 1*0.85*0.08=0.068 or 6.8% chance to crit (through lucky bullet assuming the initial crit chance is 15%) with no crit chance lucky bullet does give the full 8%. Tldr: as crit chance increase, the probability of luckybullet triggering on a crit increases therefore reducing the effective crit chance provided by lucky bullet procs. I believe lucky bullet will likely (terrible pun Jim sorry) get buffed to either be a higher % or just be an on crit effect altogether that also provides an increase crit chance (or maybe the other skill related to it gives more crit chance?) Edit: besides that I love the build, it’s not your fault of ours that specific interaction is so janky and that fat shark implemented it that way (hopefully it gets a buff/change in the future because it has the potential to be a good keystone if it wasn’t kneecapped)
