In the early tractor wars... We had an old Alis-Chalmers. Orange. That was the tractor we "learned on". It had a hand clutch. We were so young when we started driving it that we had to stand up to reach the clutch arm. We'd use it to pick up rocks. Especially on the hilly ground. Driving that manual transmission when you're only ~ 8 yrs old was quite a task!

Any piece of equipment is nice when it's new there's no better feeling then having a big job to do and have a nice new piece of equipment to do it with, Coop is a young hard working guy that tractor would be a good investment for him and it's a really good size it's big enough to use in the field and around the shop with a loader on it, best of wishes for Coop and his hay bussiness!!

Same here when I was a boy cutting hay with a JD 4440 with no cab. It had a canvas umbrella over the seat which was luxury back then. One the left rear fender was an old beat up radio, AM only with a 4" corroded speaker. You were intimately involved in the bailing process. No separation between you and the cacophony around you. Once the bailer got a bail ready, it shot out the back like a mortar and the guys on the wagon stacked them. From sun up to sun down. I filled up in the morning and that evening it was bone dry. All for $1.25 per hour. But for a 10 year old in the 70's, that was BIG money.

Never realized such a valuable safety product was available. Its limits uv ray exposure for your skin but it still is breathable/comfortable Ended up ordering some upf protective clothing for my step son who is working outside all day, in his summer job.

I used to cut hay with an old mule sickle bar mower converted to run behind a tractor. It was ground driven. I worked well for its time and the cost (think Daddy bought it for 100 bucks). Your new mower /tractor combo runs at warp speed comparatively. That was some pretty rank grass you were going through and it didn't look like the tractor bogged down at all. Great to see!

Attic fan great idea anything above 125 degrees in the attic can subtract 5 years off of a 20 year shingle. If you ever drive in a neighborhood look at the roofs if you see shingles that are curling you know the attic is over 125 and has been for number of years.

I always loved putting up hay. If Cooper likes the conditioner he should look at a center pivot. We used one for years on our farm. Make 6 rounds to open the field, then back and forth. You don't have to section off the field and drive in circles all day. He will love the conditioner, as he said it will cut at least a day off the cure time. I've actually seen times where we could mow in the morning and bale in the afternoon.

Having learned to mow hay with a sickle mower it is amazing how nice a disc mower is. You don't have to worry about gopher mounds and you can run over your wind rows with the mower and not worry about plugging up the sickle bar. With a sickle mower you always had to use some finesse when you got to that last 3 or 4 feet in the middle of the field to get it mowed without plugging up the sickle. Now we can just keep the mower on the ground and run the cut hay through it. Plus you can pretty much go as fast as you want to, depending on how rough the field is.

Y’all know this part already ……. Any new equipment is a big treat. But, along with the quiet cab, smooth ride and faster crop processing (all good stuff 👍🏻) comes the INABILITY to perform much of your own otherwise minor maintenance. Until the Right To Repair things get sorted out you will be at the mercy of that parent company for all manner of minor issues that will (over time) pop up, usually in the middle of the field (when your trying to beat a storm or make a deadline) when you’ll be required to call a service tech even to clear a code or reset/replace a minor sensor. A fix/repair that (up until the recent past) you would have been able to do yourself. The siren song of all this new technology comes with a caution……….great video as always. 👍🏻

DC would it be easier to use a shop vac to get the remaining seeds out of the planter? I have seen other farmers do that in KZbin videos and it seemed to be less hassle. It was nice seeing Cole start that truck with the chemicals on that new gravel driveway, no getting stuck in the mud anymore! Nice to see that after all the cleanup of the property you are getting the improvements done that will make things more efficient too.
