The D-7 or F/D understood, but what really defines it is what the bass player (or keyboard left hand) is emphasizing. And herein lies the difficulty with many of these songs I've played: it depends on what the keys and/or bass player are playing. If it was guitar alone, the guitarist could add whatever passing chords/bass motion they'd like. But when there are keys or organ, guitarists (in my opinion), are best staying out of the way by playing at most two to three note voicings. I'm very sparing about the harmony and usually lean on the melody, or tight wicky wicky one-note patterns with occasional dottings of two/three note harmonic hits. This is a good break down. Thanks for posting it!

JP!..you are an amazing pianist.. I always watch your fingers play and move, I really like that. Is like the Piano was made for your fingers. If I had a piano, I know my fingers would by now move like yours..but church leaders and people stole that away from me, I don't have a keyboard to practice. I was wondering if you have social media accounts like insta or twitter. Thanx for being a blessing to me. I have some of your teachings like Gospel Keys Urban Pro and I used to play most of your styles 4rm your South African FAN Desmond.
