Yeah, that's the tragedy of Blitz and Stolas. There's no real villain in the relationship, just two flawed, damaged people whose traumas and issues smash together like wrecking balls. You can definitely see both sides/perspectives and I think that is one of the things that are just so well done about the show.

After a couple rewatches it finally hit me that way back in "Loo Loo Land", Stolas insisted on taking his daughter Via to the circus because he remembers that day with Blitz so fondly. But without realizing it he was repeating a pattern, acting much like his own dad and not paying attention to what she wanted. Grown-up Stolas at the circus even sounded like his dad did in this episode, the same hooting laugh and clapping. And Blitz's dad is even more of a POS. On top of selling his son and forcing him to steal, it's obvious Fizzarolli is the one preferred as the more talented performer. But Blitz displays so much skill in this episode! He had no problems with the trapeze and acrobatics part (and grown-up Blitz still has those reflexes), and more than that, he's creative and quick-thinking. There's so many circus jobs he could have been great at! Just...not clowning or standup comedy 😆 Stella's description of their sex life gives me the crawling horrors. Both of them were forced into the marriage and I'd normally be sympathetic, but when one person says "yeah when I (bleep) them they just lay there staring at the wall", there's another word for that. I don't believe Blitz was trying to snap his neck there, though some people do. He's in the middle of a successful seduce-and-run scheme, and he probably knew Stolas could turn his head around from that day as kids. Also, Blitz is VERY aware that Goetias are among the mightiest beings in Hell, in every sense. He doesn't think he even _can_ hurt this guy. Can't pick a side, this is a painful situation from all directions and I love these two dumbasses. (Stella actually looks surprised when Stolas catches her hand. I don't think this is the first time she has hit him.)

So idk if this has been commented yet but the neck bite thing - it's actually REALLY common for powerful people to have submission kinks! This was clear from episode 2 when she scattered Stolas’ plants and it was clear that Stolas was physically afraid of her wrath. She hates Stolas because she was also forced to marry him, maybe she wanted something else. Stolas also turns out to be not at the biological level can't be into her, since he is gay. This hit Stella’s own self-esteem very hard, maybe she, like Blitz, began to think that she was not good enough. Yeah, the creatures she’s hurting in that childhood pic are the flies that are basically hell’s version of dogs. So, she abuses her pets. No wonder Stolas freaks out after seeing that pic! Take another look at the pics in the hallway. As you noticed, there was an imp in his infant picture. But he’s also clutching a stuffed imp in the next two pics. In the picture of Stolas and his wife, they clearly dislike each other and are unhappy, but in the pic of Stolas with his daughter, they are both beaming with happiness and love. The asmodeon crystals will come up again. Well done noticing that! You always notice much more than most reactors 😊 When Stolas wakes up with green trickling from his mouth, there is a bottle of absinthe by his head. Absinthe is the green alcohol he was drinking in the party flashback. One thing to keep in mind is that Stolas started dirty-talking because Blitzo gave him the impression of being kinky and he thought Blitzo liked it. Blitzo told him to stop but then immediately gagged him and tied him up, so it’s understandable if he thought it was part of the bit, not Blitzo disliking the dirty talk. And Blitzo did not tell Stolas he disliked it when Stolas calls him in the first episode. The pilot episode is non-canon. Stolas was still conceived of as a villain at that point, and you can see the difference between that and when he calls Blitzo in episode one.

And she doesn't seem fond of Via either.

And when Stolas woke up after the "Now" title card, there was another bottle of absinthe next to him. That's what the green on his mouth was. And yes, Stella is awful and abusive and always has been. You can tell from Stolas catching that attempted strike that this is not the first time she's hit him. (Some people argue that she's also a victim of high society pressures... but that excuse only goes so far. She made the choice to not just continue to heap abuse on others, but REVEL in it. Any and all sympathy she may have been owed for being forced into a loveless marriage and to have a kid evaporated at that.)

I feel like Blitz wanted this relationship to be "Friends with Benefits" and only that. Stolas on the other hand isnt unaware that this started as a "friends with benefits", but wants to transform it into a actually relationship. Stolas love story is rather tragic; to fall in love with blitzo at a young age to then spend 25 years chained to a vile harpy.

Stolas drinks absinthe which is really strong, one bottle is concerning but he drank a lot that night. And what’s worse is he takes medication (happy pills). He loves plants, that’s why he has them and when he was little he found out plants listen. That’s really nice for a little guy who’s lonely. At Blitzø’s apartment, the pictures of him on the wall are scratched out. Him not liking himself makes him think others wouldn’t like him, so I would think that he feels Stolas only wants him for sex. We see in Stolas perspective that he Loves Blitzø most likely. Be there for both, they both show signs of being into each other but they don’t communicate. Their puzzle just has so many pieces, so be there for both and in giving time, they can put it together. Loved the reaction!! Keep them coming!

When I first saw this I thought that blitzo's love for horses was because that was something that both he and well pizza rolls (I think it's funny you call him that) because It reminded him of a time that was more simpler and they were actually friends with each other. Also with the plants I am pretty sure that are carnivorous and that stolas keeps them as pets. A theory is that before Octavia was born stolas treated the plants as his only friends because the lady was probably very controlling and abusive towards him. So I think that blitzo was his first and only friend as stolas knew that anyone else who tried to be friendly to him only for his fame and the lady that lives in his castle (dbza reference score) probably spread tons of lies and rumors about him.

Fun thing about this episode! Stolas "talks dirty" to Blitzø so much in s1 because he thinks that's all that Blitzø wants, and Blitzø doesn't correct him because he thinks that's all that he deserves. And therein lies the root of their misunderstanding, the very thing that both parties need to address and move forward from for their relationship to ever become healthy. Also, the portrait you were confused about at 2:30 is of Stolas with one of his giant carnivorous plants, which you see more of at 27:45. Speaking of, that green on his mouth might be more of the absinthe like we see him drinking earlier. If you look back at 21:06, it looks pretty similar! Edit: the absinthe bottle is right next to him on the floor and I am an idiot

Yeah… though Blitzo is really really terrible with communication. Even when Stolas toned down his dirty talk. (Which I think they did at the start mostly to be a shock factor, and did it here, because thats how S1 ep 1 Stolas was.) Blitz still refused to communicate, or say anything, despite Stolas actually trying. Though I personally am somewhat of a hater of Blitz you could say, yeah he has monents where he does good, and sticks up for people… but he is like bad 80-90% of the time. Especially to Moxxie, and his apology to Moxxie of I’m hard on you cuz I know you can do better or whatever is just such a BS apology, and he goes back to treating Moxxie bad again. By extension semi treats Millie bad with the stalking. Then of course how he treats Stolas, how he treated Verosika.

Why exactly should I feel sorry for him? His parents passing? Yeah, you can feel bad for a person because of something bad happening to them, but that does not excuse their actions as a person years later. Most bad things that have happened to him were his own fault. Verosika, the way he handled the Stolas thing. He stalks and abuses his employees. The only two things not entirely his fault is Fizz, and his sister. (Though we dont really know enough about her, that one is just giving him the benefit of the doubt.) And he got the Fizz thing cleared up and they became friends, its about the only thing he has done right, aside from adopting Loona. I’ll admit he did stand up for Moxxie to Asmodeus which was cool to see… but again only reason he was there, was to Stalk, and he used Stolas to do it as well. This is just my opinion and how I see things. Minute good deeds, or tragic backstories, dont excuse current bad behavior years later, Maybe you can explain a different view to me, I’m not saying he is badly written at all, I should add, written pretty well, but in a way thats easy for me to dislike.

Okay so to explain the scene with Stolas and the plants, what happened was after his horrible night with blitzø at Ozzie's, he got out a bottle of absinthe which in turn made him pass out (and maybe maybe not) remind him of his first encounters with blitzø which is what this episode showed us. You can see the same bottle on the floor beside him behind the plants. And also those plants seem to be a very popular plant among the richer families and Hell judging from the amount of them throughout the palace, seen in previous episodes

28:01 we can see the bottle he must have been drinking from just behind the plant next to him (must be absinthe based on the color on him and it was what he drinks in the flashback at the party) 32:16 It's not really a question of which sides we are supposed to take, because both sides have reasons we understand, which is why it's frustrating for us haha we're just seeing a story of miscommunication taking place between two beings than need healing. It's was going to be messy for sure 34:21 She was always awful since childhood (why ? we don't know, maybe we will never know/spoiles rotten ? surely/based on the picture in the flashback haha). And in episode 2 season 1 we can see that Stolas is afraid of her rage (I don't think she ever hit him but the fear was here) and when she talks to her friend about how he's in bed we can guess that he's dissociating when he's with her. Stolas was never in love with her (he's gay for sure, I say that basing myself on the way he reacts to the picture haha) and still tried to make this situation as best as possible for everyone involved but she never tried in return, and doesn't seem that she has the best relationship with Octavia (with what we can see and understand). I think Stela resents the fact that she was forced to marry Stolas, that she wanted somethingelse, and takes it out on him. And I wouldn't be shocked if we learned that she also cheated on him but it wouldn't be with someone from a lower class (it's the thing that she doesn't like the most about Stolas' adultery)

Yes, they did indeed had child VA's to voice young Stolas, Blitz and Fizz. How cute is that? ❤ It's subtly hinted at that Stolas has a drinking problem. It's very brief but you see two empty absinthe bottles lying next to Stolas when he wakes up on the floor. His plants are a hobby and scattered all over the palace. In the Ars Goetia demonology Stolas is the infernal prince of astronomy, botany and precious stones. However, the first one is his primary duty to hell, his job and purpose. The green drink's the same strong liquor he chugged at the not-divorce party. He's also depressed and taking prescripted meds (the pill bottle) for it. Poor man is not doing well. Yes, Stella is just an all out awful person. They are just the worst match made in hell. Thank you dad! The book will explained halfway into the show. You don't necessarily need to know about the details yet.

In regards to where he woke up and why. Stolas as a Demon Prince in the actual Ars Goetia's Demonology, (The source of much of the demon lore in Hellaverse), does indeed have the same visual description as in the show. "A crowned owl with long legs" practacally. He's described to be charged with the watching of the planetary movements and prophecies. He's also described to have an affinity for herbs and herbology, which they also use in the show. So an explanation to where he woke up, after drinking himself under the pots on absinthe, could be that they are his only source of comfort and company when he's alone in his house.

You are supposed to see it from both perspectives AND to realise that they dont see the same as we se. Another thing with Blitz is: The whole thing is complicated. And without spoiling anything (only writing things that we can know from previous episodes). 1. Blitz hate himself and think nobody could love him or care for him based on anything else then what he can give to them, (that is what his father teached him, forcing him to steal to be useful to his family and earn being liked) All his relationship right now are transactional in some way. (Stolas, his employees). 2. Blitz very much do think Stolas only want him for his body. This have multiple reasons. Their transactional deal make it look that way in itself. Comments like calling him his "plaything". Blitz own feeling that nobody could love him for who he is. 3. There is an enormous power imbalance between them. Not only based on class or Stolas titles. But the book arrangement also make Stolas have power over Blitz livelihood. Its not equal in the slightest. In hells society imps are treated very badly, specially from the royals. They are treated as pets, or as someones who can do the shitty jobs for a low pay. Blitz have reasons for feeling like "A Prince would never want a low imp like me". And that Blitz is just a "plaything" to him. Combine with Stolas micro aggressions during s1 and how condescending his tone was before I do understand him. 4. Blitz have a lot of issues when it comes to relationship. Remember his bad trip in ep6? Comments like "Yet you still shove away anyone who gets too close…" and "are you afraid to love people Blitzy". He cant "fathom proper intimacy but still crave it as well". His issues with relationships and where it might come from will be addressed later in the season. But all in all. Blitz doesn't see the same things we se. He dont see how Stolas longs for him and sings about him. And the idea that Stolas would love someone like him is probably just absurd to him.

Yeah from Blitzø's perspective there is class power structures to consider even down to them meeting as an underhanded transaction. He's always been a product to Stolas's whims. He was bought to entertain him, Stolas assumes he is there to ravish him when they meet again as adults, etc.. And while Stolas knows he has never looked down on Blitzø, what he has communicated hasn't reflected that. He has hidden his genuine nervousness behind vulgar flirtation which has only ever communicated as such for Blitzø. At the Harvest Moon festival, Blitzø has to snap at Stolas publicly about saying his name wrong when he's supposed to be receiving an award in front of a bunch of people. Stolas is always leaving down and poking at him too which is demeaning. It's not that Stolas is trying to hurt him, but he isn't listening to him either. Blitzø is full self sabotaging because we see his lapses of realizing he might like Stolas throughout their relationship. In this episode he hears Stolas thank him for making him feel wanted and for coming back for him. That hits Blitzø hard and in a personal place, he feels for Stolas and doesn't want to hurt him by leaving. Other instances like that happen in the show that help us see that Blitzø might have feelings that make him protective of Stolas and that's scary because he only sees himself as a plaything by Stolas. He runs from it and hurts Stolas in the process but he doesn't know Stolas has real feelings so he can't know he's hurting him. It's classic miscommunication and its written very well and I love our boys but they are a mess lol

A lot to comment here but i see a lot has been covered by other comments already. I believe for blitz, its not that he doesn’t get that vibe from stolas, its that he has always other things in his mind that have kind of a higher priority. You can see the class disparity in that attitude imo. Also he believes stolas to be in a completely different league than he is so he doesn’t even pay it any mind. But i truly believe that he likes him a lot even early on. First off, theres the infamous selfie from episode 7 with him and stolas in bed asleep. Is face is so content and reads ‘dang hes so cute’. Then theres the infamous truth seekers trip. Everything is shit and then stolas appears on a gilded staircase and blitz looks at him with wide eyes and starts climbing on all fours, even though he feels chains on his hands and feet stolas never pulls on the chain, blitz climbs to him sort of dazingly. Then theres a wide array of micro expressions that i really like to go back to and frame freeze every now and then, like when stolas appears in truth seekers, or when stolas gets very close to blitzs face (harvest moon festival when theyre in bed, truth seekers twice) and he is caught off guard for a second. Also also also he said i can do this real quick and THE CLOWN STAYED THE WHOLE NIGHT AND LEFT IN THE MORNING. Bitch who you kiddin!!!! Also i love the casual physical intimacy they have just in general. I kept this spoiler free to 2x01, obviously theres so much more in the next episodes ❤️
