The national instrument of Puerto Rico "El Cuatro" (a four-string instrument) was played at the beginning of the song, and throughout the song. The artists are both Puerto Rican. Luis Fonsi is a Latino POP singer, and Daddy Yankee is the undisputed king of Reggeaton (he is also a rapper, and does trap, and Pop). This is one of those songs that is good but was ruined by being OVERPLAYED!!!! Especially when the Justin Bieber version came out. BUT hot dang it is a BOP and you can't help but just groove for it and for those of us non-Spanish speakers, the "despacito" part gets sang so loudly. And yes, I'm gullty of this. lol Cheers Fil

Am i a bad person for listening to the Pokemon version of this before i ever heard the original?? I guess the Bieberized version put me off listening to it, because thats the only 1 heard everywhere and it annoyed me so much Hearing the original is much better but i always sing the pokemon lyrics haha
