In Denmark, where Nanna (Oh Land) is from and the rest of the northern hemisphere it doesn't get completely dark during the summer. These summer nights where the sun never quite sets are called - White nights.

Being a Dane I'm in favor of translating the Danish expression ("Lys nat") with "bright night", since only the northern sky isn't getting totally dark from about May-July. I have been further north, in Sweden, and experienced "White nights". The whole sky was bright/white during the night, although the sun was set (just under the horizon ;-). My two boys didn't believe me, when I told them the time was 2 hrs after midnight and I told them to go to sleep. They insisted that the clock was only two hours BEFORE midnight.

This video is truly amazing! I had to share it with a former Physical Therapist who had to stop dancing due to the strain it put on her body- to show her “This woman has experienced the same as you! Perfecting spiritual expression through dance… then the cruelty of your sacrifice as storytellers, as such explosive performance takes a toll on these human bodies, which *by* dance, you’ve transcended for a heartbreakingly short time…”. Another extremely talented dancer and dear friend recently had a hip replacement at 42- because she danced. It sucks to know the price such Wonders pay for their indescribable art. This video is special because it’s a dream, divided into two dimensions: the spiritual and the technical. Both inform the other, yet are so different. I love you Oh! Land!

I love how all her music videos have ballet influenced choreography as she used to be a ballet dancer. But she adds her own little touches to them that you can only see a little bit of what she used to be. Now it is a completely new dance and she is becoming something much bigger and better than she was before her injury. bravo.

She is the right combination of weird (in a good way) and her lyrics are quite clever and often have dual meanings (unless I'm mistaken). I love her for the fact that she is quite awkward and silly and fun and at the same time, she can convey real deep stuff as well. Not to mention her looks. I hope she gets the attention she deserves ( not that she doesn't at moment) but she's good and there is definitely scope for improvement.
