I don't think so, this is an example of what happens when children see violence, they replicate it on anyone. I think he's still too young to have the mindset of "I'm going to protect my daddy", so this must have been more of a "I saw it, so I do it". That's why I always advise against this kind of thing, children don't understand pranks, so even if it seems funny to pretend to fight in front of a baby to see his reaction, it's not a good idea

When you don't want your child to hit others, then don't do that yourself. So if that's an issue, the mother should correct her own behaviour. On the other hand: she seems to have been playfully provoking it, so yes, in a sense it is funny. Humour is just an offer of course. Anyways: it's not the child's fault. Either take it as a joke or change as a grown-up. Basically tricking a child into some behaviour and then correct it is super toxic and unreflective.

@@March_Girl my point is that in my particular tradition.....that is the last thing any child would do! Even kids are aware of certain things and any child would atleast hesitate before slapping anybody like that (in this case his own mother) if he's not already used to doing it on a regular basis. I agree that u should not portray violence infront of kids but mother hitting her husband in a fun way and a kid giving a smash on his mothers face are different things!. This is crazy n how they're normalizing it cuz in most arab countries hitting a woman whether she's ur mother sis or wife is a pretty normal thing.

Some of this behavior needs to be corrected right away. The baby hitting his mom, yea no. Then again the woman shouldn't have hit the guy either, that's just telling the kid its ok to hit. The rest, you don't want to have a possessive child. Its ok to share.
