I went out and ordered Port Royal and the expansion because of the last video, and now I am about to order Oh My Goods because of this one. I'm loving these short card games with euro strategy

Thanks for the reply. I’m also on fence about targi. The reviews are always mixed. I have that’s clever 7 wonders duel Mandala patchwork and just received ohanami. Highly recommend mandala. But now I’m going to look into oh my goods also push is a loud time and fun if you haven’t tried it. I also have watergate and that’s a war my wife won’t play the crew despite every attempt to play it. Keep up the reviews

My husband and I found this video very helpful as you describe the rules clearly and provide lots of examples. One suggestion, when you are describing the symbols/icons on a card, it would be helpful to show a closeup of the card itself.

I just discovered your Alexander Pfister series. I love the clarity, pace and spirit of your videos. My niece and I really like Oh My Goods. We bought Newdale, but found out about the other small box expansions (on the Newdale box) so have paused our Newdale campaign to go back and immerse ourselves in the Oh My Goods universe. I've also been acquiring other Pfister titles just because we've really responded positively to all of the titles we've played so far. I'm excited to watch more of your Pfister series. Thank you for representing the gaming community so positively.

@@BeforeYouPlay Yes, I actually chained together grain to bread to food to earn 96 points on the last round! I had some advantage having watched your video for strategy, but my wife scored very well also. We both really liked it and expect to take it with us when we travel. I like your idea to cycle the cards by producing to the bottoms of the goods stacks on buildings, but it would be a little more efficient if you just paid from the bottom of those stacks instead. Since you pick up the stacks to pay anyway, if you just paid from the bottom then you can cut out the tedium of picking up the stacks while producing and just put the goods on top like normal.

This looks great as a filler game, and I love the rule changes, they do mitigate the luck factor that these games usually have. I also like that the game is a decent engine builder and requires some thought, so it’s enjoyable not only to beginners but to more experienced players as well. I am also thankful that you played sequentially - I realise it takes longer but it helps showcasing the game.

I like the game and play it quite a lot with my wife, despite the fact that the game is widely regarded as "broken", meaning that if you buy a cheap building each round and race towards the 8 buildings goal as soon as possible, you will win and the engine building is non-existent. I'm really looking forward to playing with the Longsdale in Revolt expansion if it really fixes this problem.
@SClarkPharmD4 жыл бұрын
Oh my Goods! is so good! I enjoy it as a quick engine builder. I didn't notice the rule that you can only draw an extra card for market office if your hand isn't too big and that moving assistants cost two coins. I'll have to try with those new rules. Thanks for teaching!
@BeforeYouPlay4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's a new rule to balance the extra draw for that card. I believe moving the assistant was always a rule.

A little late but, reading through BGG questions and Alexander's answers, running all production chains at the end of the game should be done before building the last building phase and not after . :)

Is it specified in the rules or on BGG to place goods at the bottom of each pile? That's such a good idea instead of having cards locked out of play for so long!
@reneebaziuk59764 жыл бұрын
Never played this one, only Expedition to Newdale which is a bit more involved. I played two-handed and poorly, so I need to try a proper game of it before I can really figure out if I like it or not (but I’m sure I will, I love engine building games). Thanks for the playthrough!

The expansions, Longsdale in revolt and Escape to Canyon Brook, are also very good. I have been struggling to beat the first story in the first game on solo mode.

It is a fun little game, but probably wouldn't want to play it without the expansion. The main thing it introduces is a fixed number of rounds, making it less of a 'race to 8 buildings' and letting the more expensive buildings shine. What is funny is that you played it at an expansion-like pace, almost avoiding the race aspect.
@BeforeYouPlay4 жыл бұрын
Ahh that's nice! Yeah, we do find it kind of strange that someone can technically rush the game by building every round. We wanted to try and showcase the engine building part of the game.
@gezandlisa3 жыл бұрын
Great explanation and play through! Checked this video out before our first play and it’s really helped. I just wanted to ask, is there a particular reason you tuck goods cards at the bottom of the pile when adding them to a building? Is it so the cards cycle through the discard pile and don’t end up staying “stuck” on a building if not spent?

@joshtaylor61374 жыл бұрын
Yes if you get the expansion: Longsdale in Revolt. However, look up reviews of it on BGG before you buy it, it's pretty contentious - I loved the idea but hated the game personally. Additionally, I think there is a fan-made variant for solo play, but I'm not 100% sure :)
