Yes, his concerts were wonderful. His joy in his music was so clear. When it was time for the musicians to take a break, he sent them on while he pulled up a stool and a guitar and kept us just as entranced, all by himself. He did not take a break. We far more than got our money's worth. So proud of my fellow Air Force brat.

I was lucky enough to see him once in concert. His gentle, but powerful, aura could be strongly felt before he even sang. One of the highlights of my life!

That’s so cool…I saw him once at a giant San Francisco New Year’s Eve party put on by est founder Werner Erhard. They were good friends. Before then I actually thought I didn’t like him but seeing that show changed my mind totally. Nothing but huge appreciation and respect for him ever since. A complicated man and his talent was absolutely clear.

John Denver sounds so good live (which you could not say about many modern singers). He always tells a story and his voice is so soothing. At one time, I believe, he was more popular than Frank Sinatra. He was far too young when he died and the world is a sadder place for his passing.

I understand what you are saying. Fortunately I was there for a couple of his concerts. He was an amazing performer! He had a gift, a way of communicating with the audience that very few have. Every last person in that audience had the feeling that the entire show was just for them. John was absolutely amazing. I still mourn his passing even after 26 years

During John's career he caught a lot of flak from detractors for "being to sappy or flowery" and they noted this song here. It was a time when the world was turning quickly more violent and corrupted, with wars, etc. like we have today. It's too bad we can't hear more music like this now.

An incredible poet, beautiful voice, and great musician, John Denver had it all. I went to many of his concerts and he had a unique way of showing his audience that he, indeed, loved to sing for us. With over 30 albums, he left us with an enduring legacy of enduring music.

Oh @bonnievonbraun6276, I know that song, Calypso. I was a child and when The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau was going on I be on PBS at night, I was allowed to stay up “late” to watch I’d be excited all day in school, and I thought everyone else thought this way. It was my father, of blessed memory, who encouraged me to be a scientist, as he was. We also had a cat named Calypso. Sarah, you are pure lovely. ❤

I'm old now but I was compared to John Denver when I was young, and I sang and played guitar. I have always been an outdoorsman in touch with nature but I feel like I have lived through so many emotional times that have beaten me down. I was devastated when he died. Listen to his song Rocky Mountain High, which wreaks my emotions. Sarah, I don't know who you are or where you are from but, if you can, visit the Rocky Mountains next summer, and play John one evening.

I grew up with this beautiful music, great for guitar students, every kid seemed to have a song book of JD's songs. Such a shame he was such an a^^hole of a man - horrible neighbor and a wife beater. It's not uncommon for people born with great talent to be this way, especially the ones who live in the spotlight. Bad behavior hides all around us.
@Admiral_Grufus Жыл бұрын
There are also good things he did. All his charity work for instance. Also, he never beat his wife (if it’s Annie you’re referring to, anyhow, I don’t know much about his second wife). The story you’re likely remembering is when he took a chainsaw to their marital bed after Annie had Denver’s favorite trees cut down while he was away
