Was blessed to.be able to hear him in concert twice and he always sang with such enthusiasm and emotion. He really connected with the audience. His pure, beautiful and powerful voice was a gift very few have had. He was a favorite of mine in the 70s. Chose to play "Annies Song" ( one of his big hits) at my wedding. I saw him at the first Farm Aid concert in '86 in Champaign, IL. Ulike other artists all day, EVERYONE faced the stage and started swaying to his peaceful ballads of love and the joy of life! He was so good! Hi Sarah! Henry John Deutschendorf Jr, known professionally as John Denver, was an American guitarist, singer, composer, actor, humanitarian, and environmentalist. After the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster on January 28, 1986 with teacher Christa McAuliffe aboard, Denver dedicated his song "Flying for Me" to all astronauts, and continued to support NASA. John Denver was killed in single-fatality crash while piloting a recently purchased light plane in 1997 at age 53. John Denver´s amazing songs will live forever!

Some of his signature songs were "Annie's Song", "You Fill Up My Senses", "Grandma's Feather Bed", "Fly Away", "Leaving On A Jet Plane", "Poems, Prayers & Promises", "Rocky Mountain High", "Calypso", "Sunshine On My Shoulders" etc. John appeared in several films & television specials during the 70's-80's, including the 1977 hit "Oh, God!", in which he starred alongside George Burns.

John Denvers music has been a part of my life, everyday, for 50 years. My first 33lp was his album "Rocky Mountain High" I received for my 9th birthday. His song " Sweet Surrender" literally saved my life; when I didn't think, "my life was worth living," his lyrics touched my soul and I realized my life was worth living. This is one of the greatest love songs ever penned. The late great singer/songwriter John Denver had so many hits. I do not recall one song being bad. Everything he wrote became classics and worldwide sing along songs. He is so loved and revered in Asian countries. He was gone too soon. I miss him dearly. Oh my, what a beautiful, glorious surprise, I have never heard this song before and I have loved John Denver since the beginning of his career. This would be a perfect wedding song. I shared my love of his music with my first granddaughter practically from the day of her birth. To this day (she is 21 now) he is still just as much her favorite as he is mine. Thank you so much for sharing this. There have only been a four or five of celebrities in my life for whom I shed tears when they died. John Denver is one of those. I have been a fan of his since I was a little girl and my big sister played his albums all the time. It’s sad how his music has nearly vanished after his early demise.
