I am so glad to have grown up during the time period when the music of our generation we listened to was GREAT! I feel they should play all these great hit songs on car radios again and elsewhere as would make the world a better place. The music of the 50's, 60's and 70's made people smile, laugh, and dance. Great times. Wonderful memories.

Hello from South France, the *Happy Family,* Oh my Gosh, I asked you this song there's so long ago in a comment. I'm glad someone had the good idea to propose it, too, now! I love this song so much; I was a little boy (6 years old) when this hit out. I remember I couldn't stop dancing each time my father played it on our old monophonic turntable. 😊 Peace, folks. ☮☮😉

I thought this was going to be another new song to me. But when the music started and I was humming right along with the music. I had totally forgotten this song. I bet it's been over 40 years since I've heard this song. It's amazing that you can go that long without hearing a song but once the music starts, it comes back to you. Thanks for the memories!

Amber I think the actor with the high voice you were thinking of was Marion Ramsey from 'Police Academy'. This was huge back in the day, Shirley and Company, were Shirley Goodman and Jason 'Jesus' Alvarez produced by Sylvia Robinson who was the co-owner of 'All Platinum Records', they had other hits "Cry, Cry, Cry", and "I Like to Dance" and "Disco Shirley", they released other tracks but this was there biggest it.

@@CliffJOnes-m5n That was my thought as well. I had thought that Ms McQueen used that voice just for her character in the movie but I saw an interview done with her decades after the movie and that seemed to be her natural speaking voice. Though sometimes people have very different speaking and singing voices. Jim Nabors comes to mind - deep singing voice but a high pitched speaking voice.

After re-watching that excellent reaction from J. a few times I was finally able to focus on Amber's face. While Amber's expression did not make me actually laugh, I was VERY gratified by her surprised & impressed reaction to the male in this group too, that I used to listen to & enjoy as a kid. "As We Lay" (one of the most beautiful recordings I've ever heard), "Go On Without You," "Husband," and the very late disco "Let There Be Love" are some of the highlights. Oh my gosh this was such a FUN song to dance to!! This was such a huge hit especially with those of us who loved to hit the dance floor in the 70's! Thanks for more memories from my favorite and greatest era!

She reminds me of the short black woman who plays on Police Academy. Her voice is almost identical.

Sirley Goodman & Jesus Alveraz are the vocalists. Just a one hit wonder although Shirley had a hit under the group Shirley & Lee in the 50's. the song was "Let The Good Times Roll". I remember Shame,ShameShame on the radio and reminds me of two other female R&B songs on around the same time. "When Wil I See You Again" by The Three Degrees and "Never Can Say Goodbye" by Gloria Gaynor. React to those someday. Thanks. 😎
