As an abused young boy, you dream of the day that you can overcome your abuser. I've been there. I can't tell you, as a 55 year old man, how many punk, metal, and hard rock lovers I've met and spoken to over my life that came to HARD music through seeking empowerment. Disturbed is a band that acknowledges this. WHY are you out of the mainstream? WHY do you feel cast out, and unloved and "different?" Metal is a welcoming place where the misfits find each other. Aggressive music is a release, a catharsis. As Ozzy Osbourne said, for a lot of us, "Rock n roll is my religion and my law."

Whoa whoa, there. You've taken it way, way too far. Let's not make false idols that cannot save. P.S. Also "Down with the sickness" is a numetal song. And metalheads usually disown numetal.

Sound of Silence was a cover of Simon & Garfunkel. This is more their normal style. Off their debut album released in 2000. Lead singer is David Draiman. You probably heard the song in part at a sporting event.

The last part where he's screaming at his mother is a reality for so many kids. As a teacher, this song really helped me understand the rage that exists inside some of "my kids". I understand their behavior. I believe these words are what they are holding inside. Sad, but society does have this sickness of child abuse. (Just my 2 cents.)
@carybrauer96693 жыл бұрын

The first time I ever heard Disturbed was on the soundtrack from the movie Queen of the Damned, which was singer Aaliyah’s last movie. But that was my induction to Disturbed and I’ve never looked back.

Hi, Jay and Amber. I’ve been a member of your channel for a few months now but have not left a single word until now. When I first discovered “reaction” videos I was fascinated by the idea. What makes them special? I feel it’s a bit like experiencing great songs and performances of my past for the first time - again - but enhancing the experience by sharing it with new young friends. I’m 68, so, yeah, you’re young. After bumping into my first reaction video, I binge watched for a couple days… and gradually became disappointed, in that the hosts began to feel like tired salespeople at Best Buy, faking it, pretending they are interested, pretending they know what they're talking about. They seemed like people stuck at a job. I began to suspect they knew the songs prior to their videos. Over time I stopped checking in on these channels, but not yours. You two offer something none of the others have quite been able to maintain: sincerity, authenticity (real folk), consistency, and warmth. It’s more than that though. You both exude genuine kindness and respect for each other, and for your audience, too. Also, you both seem to have an open mind in your approach to new music. You check your biases. Jay has a good sense for marketing, creating a brand, keeping things on track while not getting overly serious or too dry. I get the feeling he is giving it 100% and will succeed at whatever he puts his mind to. He’s focused. And Amber has an amazing talent for understanding the deeper meanings of both the music and the lyrics of a song. In watching her reactions, I get the feeling she is adjusting to the music, finding connections, tuning into the vibe and intent of the song. She is having an experience, which is contagious. I’ve watched you two react to songs I’ve heard a hundred times before, thought I knew the song, and Amber would make an observation that would put the song in a whole new light for me. She has a high music IQ - and very perceptive, I believe. You two, in my humble opinion, are the best reactors, best personalities, the best selection of songs, on KZbin. Thank you for keeping it real. Here’s a song I believe you’d both enjoy, especially Amber, for Female Friday: Sara Bareilles - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (Live Cover) I watched you do the original Elton John version. You guys have it. Please keep it up.

YUP. I am a reaction addict, and I have given a similar description, as to Why. We of course can't experience our past again, but it FEELS like it, when you watch people react to the stuff from the past, in an effort to re-live it. It is actually an acceptable replacement, to me, since it's not possible to go back. I LOVE IT. And I've been watching Jordan since his first reaction videos, and I became an instant fan. This is definitely more of what to expect from Disturbed. They are great for working out, driving home on the interstate after work, and in general those times when you just need to throw a fist in the air and shake your head. I was truthfully SHOCKED with how restrained their version of Sound of Silence was. Some of their earlier stuff really lived up to the name; this one in particular always read as processing abuse. Later albums mellowed a bit so I imagine there's been some therapy but they still play pretty hard. Amber, these might just be reactions for Jay but maybe you'd be into the vibe off of their [10,000 Fists] album. #LoveAndPeace

You have listened to two songs by Simon & Garfunkel - one of their biggest hits was Sound of Silence, written by the short guy Paul Simon. Disturbed did a cover of that song which was amazing! But I have always loved the original as well. I almost feel that after you have analysed some of the comments, you should discuss or process them in the next day's video's because sometimes it feels that you have not pieced together the whole story and miss out on some of the significance of some songs, their history and meaning. Another plug for The Cranberries - Zombie for female Friday, the story is amazing in this song.

DISTURBED takes on hard topics. They give an outlet to those who need it. Please look up the songs explanation from the band themselves. You think it's obviously about child abuse, but it's not really . Love this band as they also tackle the subject of suicide, deoression & addiction (Song: REASON TO FIGHT) They also make you think: Who taught you how to hate? Cuz it isn't in your blood - not a part of what your made. Who taught you how to hate cuz when you live this way, you'll be done - dead to everyone.. The pain of losing a friend before their time. I could go on & on cuz I L♡VE these guys! I listened to ONLY them in my car for a year! I needed them to see me through the toughest time in my life. I am alive becuz them.💚💙💜🎼🎼🎶🤘
