I’ve got a 2 door 07 3.8 ltr JK. It’s got 230,000 miles on it. Had to change out the rear main seal last month, changed out the radiator too. Other than that and regular maintenance I’ve done nothing. Everything still works perfectly. I still like it.

i daily a 2007 jku 122k miles, I have no issues with it. I put a peddle commander on mines to take away the pedal lag, It will get up and go and keep up with regular traffic. I am the third owner of it and previously it was in Texas before coming to Florida so there isnt any rust that is eating away at the frame. It is an automatic with 4.10 gearing in the rear. I plan on saving up for a regear in the future to bring back some power and increase mpg. When the 3.8l v6 decides to go one day I want to look into a hemi swap or maybe another 3.8l but with a ripp supercharger. I love my jeep and would not trade it for anything well maybe the 392 but thats it lol

I have a 2007 3.8 with a little over 200k miles and the coolant is leaking from the timing plate now. I was quoted about 1500 so im just going to replace the whole engine with a new 3.8. With labor in SoCal it is $6300. Just fyi. Love my 2 door manual and will keep it forever

I bought a 2010 jku and my biggest regret is the previous owner . They had the transmission out and who ever stuck it in did not tighten the torque converter bolts . They came out while going down the road . Also they did not believe in maintaining the engine .

@@SFJ4x4 what about future rust and he said it's a 4 cylinder turbo any thoughts on that ? What a good price to pay ? Thanks
@SFJ4x47 күн бұрын
I'm not sure where you're from, but here in the Rust Belt, vehicles are very prone to rust over time because of the salt brine used on our roads. With that said, you can help prevent rust (to an extent) by undercoating your Jeep. Personally, I like the 2.0 turbo engine, but since it’s still relatively new, it needs some time to prove its longevity. I would say a fair price would be around $31,000.
@Holyheart17 күн бұрын
@ yeah I'm in Illinois. I just know that jeeps seem to rust out more than other vehicles. He's in that area for price. Now I'm not sure what to do but thanks for your info. Taking time out to answer my question.

That Jeep is trashed. Granted, it’s a rugged vehicle, but repairing the top, washing it and mitigating rust at regular intervals will go a long way in making your Jeep look better for a good sale.

One thing that bears mentioning... If you have modded a setting in the BCM using JScan or AlfaOBD (my personal favorite), and you happen to take your Jeep - or any CDJR vehicle for that matter - to the dealer, they may take it upon themselves to "upgrade" the code in your BCM. If that happens, it will also over-write all of your changes with the stock settings. You'll get to do it all over. I'm not sure about the Tazer. Those generally have to be "un-married" from the vehicle before any dealer work is done. AlfaOBD and (I think) JScan are "hit and run". The device does not need to stay attached. I'm sure someone will correct me if I have misspoken.

Looking at a 2012 Sahara with 177K How many miles is the 3.6 and auto trans good for?
@SFJ4x424 күн бұрын
It really depends on how well the previous owner maintained it but 177k is a lot of miles for any vehicle. We do replace engines and transmissions in JKs somewhat frequently as well as service rocker/lifter arms but the biggest problem we have been seeing recently in the 2012-2018 JKs is this particular electrical issue with the ECM which can become a very invasive and expensive issue to diagnose. With that said we regularly see Jeeps go over 250k miles in their lifetime.

Very informative video. I have a 1991 YJ with a manual transmission and have been thinking about getting a JK only because I’m approaching 70 and probably need to go with an automatic. I definitely learned about what to look for in my search. But until I find one for a descent price, I’ll keep on enjoying my YJ. I can always drive my wife’s Cherokee I guess.

@SFJ4x4Ай бұрын
Arguably the V6s in these Jeeps are easier to work on. Larger aftermarket support. A lot of cross platform information and open engine bays make these platforms desirable for the average to above average DIYer.

Hate to burst your small bubble, but Jeep is not a world offroading vehicle. That would be the Toyota Prado or in US it's cousin rhe GX460. It does what a jeep can do but is bullet proof reliable. Jeep is popular in the US only.

Hate to burst your bubble but Jeeps are the first offroading vehicle to be distributed across all 7 continents of the spinning globe we live on. Yes all 7 including Antarctica. Hence why after that achievement they begun developing all their models with the seven vertical vents in the front end to signify that. Don't think it was the prado that took that trophy and even if toyota has made it to antarctica, jeep did it first.
