As another fan from Canada I liked the change in the intro and think it would be interesting to see more of the odd places from around Florida where you guys live and work. There must be tons of interesting sights you could share with us in a two into to your videos.

Tough break, Kevin. Better that you spotted it and had a chance to correct it now instead of chasing random front-end alignment issues further down the track though 🙂 See good in bad, it makes life sweeter. More power to ya, bud 🤟🏼

As a frame and body guy from the late 70's to mid 90's, that frame wasn't "straight' from the factory... LOL

@chrisschmidt4792Ай бұрын
Me too. Same experience. 1/4” is insignificant for factory stuff.
@ronbuckner8179Ай бұрын
Ditto! But my Ford was way worse. My 1965 Gal 500 was over 1” off. Tire wear? Much? Wheel alignment was impossible.
@ronbuckner8179Ай бұрын
Hammering on a car frame is NEVER a good idea. Cleetus Auto Body fixes things like this with a strap and a fork lift and it’s always worked for him.
@gwick358Ай бұрын
I'm thinking 1/4 inch is in spec for a factory frame. The original enginerds never took Kevin into account.

Kev, we're still watching and enjoying every video. Each one shows everyone just how genuine you are as a person, builder, dad, and employer. You're definitely not getting rich doing these and want to say thank you for taking the time anyway. The intro was fine, regardless if you caught the sun rising or not. Cheers!

I LOVE the beach rain or shine. The beauty of the beach in the rain is the peacefulness because there are so few people. And of course sunrise, like you were attempting, and sunsets at the beach are unbelievable!!! Love the different intro and of course children chasing birds is beautiful!!!

My metal cutting band saw is my favorite tool in the shop. It is by far the most utilized piece of equipment I own. Funny story with mine, I bought it at a yard sale. It began life as an old meat saw! It has an all cast iron frame. I put a 16:1 gear box on it to get the blade speed correct for cutting metal. Been making brackets and plates with it for more that 25 years.

The beach intro was a nice touch. I imagine it was good for you to take time out to enjoy a sunrise. Too bad you got rained on but I’ve found a walk on the beach is a blessing regardless of the weather. It’s a reminder of how big God is and how small we are. I live 20 minutes from the Gulf of Mexico. You have inspired me to get over to the beach more often. Thanks.

I am building a positioner right now, I have enough material to build another on hand. If one with a 4" chuck (but 30ish Nm of torque) would work for you I can probably toss one together and send it down, with the caveat I am still figuring out the code side. I did test the slip "ring" system to 520A and it didn't hear too much. Probably would be a few months until I have the time to finish but I can absolutely fire one down if you are interested.

Great sunrise and sets in Florida' I get that mountain and ocean look great northwest, Never fun fixing frames ' yes a jig if your going to keep making chassis cars even a nice sports car frame great work thought with laser and a few mathematical devises .
@hommie789Ай бұрын
Kevin, how do you prevent the frame rails from bending from welding on them as they stuck out with limited support? Do you know it was the left that was high or maybe the right was low from welding on it?
@Mister510Ай бұрын
I have a chassis plate. Building and fixing stuff on it is so much easier I can't imagine building a car on the floor again! It's a 6 x 12 foot 3/4 inch steel sheet with an I beam frame under it. The newer cool thing is to have a minimalist jig for better weld access but I love having a perfectly flat plate and find myself building all sorts of non-racecar stuff on it. Being strong enough to weld a super late model down and use a porta-power against it is huge.
@rustyh8806Ай бұрын
You might want to try 1/4” wide bandsaw blade, you can cut a pretty tight radius. Get a blade welder and buy blade stock in bulk to make or repair your own blades. May be a lifesaver during a late night or weekend thrash.
@billtruett8593Ай бұрын

Isn't it crazy how much metal will move when you weld on it? Not saying that's exactly what happened here but as you said, likely a possibility. Also, do you like the ceramic tig cups over glass ones for a specific reason? I haven't tried glass ones yet but see quite a few people use them.
@stephenhammer7357Ай бұрын
nice job Kevin
@jaratt85Ай бұрын
I highly suggest welding vertical up over down.. It's so much easier to have the puddle naturally below your torch where gravity wants to take it than to be fighting gravity and chasing the puddle. Hmm.. a bent frame you say.. I wonder if anyone had ever brought up that possibility before... maybe on the first video when you got that chassis? :D
