Gurl! At least what happened to me didn’t happen to you! A few years ago- I don’t know which Olaplex product she used- but I was 1 in 6 billion that this ever happened to- it cross bound my hairs! I literally had a brick of melted hair on one side of my head. I had to go to a hair restoration place in Texas- I live in Wyoming. It was something. I’m so glad yours was renewed. They said if it would have been half an inch closer to my scalp… I would have had to have surgery…. Whaaaat? But praise God! I did have bra strap length locks and the creative stylist cut it in an asymmetrical style. Have a most amazing day! Be so blessed💕

You’re licensed, so I’d say try it a second time in 2 months yourself, the way you would do style your hair. Also try it on someone else, how about someone with multiple curl patterns and a little damage? I’m always on the lookout for multiple curl pattern videos because I’m literally straight underneath by day 2, and I have 2bc3a all over the rest of my hair (which also falls a bit on day 2+). Idk if it’s damage from my clothing, but it never used to do that and my curls are 100% hormonal and I’m aging towards the lady change! I’m so glad to know Olaplex is coming out with curly products and they didn’t rush. Which products are silicone free in the line?

After primping and putting me under some heat lamps he cut an AFRO! Round afro cuts are beautiful but I could have done that myself. Some salons get cut happy .

I think you are an amazing hair stylist and artist (which I believe a great hair stylist has to be). You have vision. You know what end results you want for yourself or for your client, and you know how to achieve those results. This is (in my humble opinion) a rare quality. This also makes you the best person to give the treatment both to yourself and others. Personally, when I have a bad experience at a salon, or anywhere, I don't go back. If you do go back, you should go back as a stylist showing them what you would do. You have made the very best of your situation. Your hair looks amazing and looks the best when you style it. I think you are better qualified to do it than anyone else. I honestly believe if someone gave you a random product and said it's supposed to do this, you would probably figure out how to make it do that on anyone's head and/or inform them if it the product could never do that on their head. Not everyone has that. That's just my two cents. Also, thank you for all your videos! I love watching them and gaining valuable insight! Thank you 🙂

1) I love the vertical/portrait orientation for this video. It's mostly just one subject (when there are two people, it is one person standing behind the other... so essentially one person). If it were you and Amanda, landscape is probably more appropriate. But I really like this. 2) A lot of the responsibility rests with the stylist. She was well into styling before she asked you how you usually style your hair. That should have been a huge part of the discussion during the consultation, as well as asking you about your product use routine. Most people wouldn't use a curl cream on my wavy/curly hair, but I happen to know that I need it. So the first time she met me, my current stylist used a curl cream. Olaplex needs to look at their training process when it comes to styling. I get that there a probably a lot of people going there who have damaged hair, but there are probably also a lot of people with healthy hair who are obsessed with having the healthiest hair possible. 3) Sure, I'd do the Olaplex process if they did it for free for me too. I'm guessing that's not going to happen, and you didn't mention price. 4) I think you should re-do the service to give us a sense of whether this was just the particular stylist or a trend of their people not listening to and learning from clients. Do it in 4 weeks, and use it on other people in the meantime. If they want you to redo it sooner, you're a busy woman, I'm sure it will take at least 2-3 weeks for your schedules to mesh.

My hair has never looked great leaving a salon - at best it looks very similar to yours in this video as you were leaving the salon. I've just accepted it as reality. Its frustrating because there is such a narrow pool of salon stylists who know how to deal with curly hair and even then I've only gotten moderately good results. I drive 1 hour each way to see a curly hair stylist and still, I only know if it's a good visit after I get home and rewash and style my hair. But I'm still driving that hour b/c its better than going to someone who, knows I have curly hair, but busts out the dryer with no diffuser and proceeds to fluff and brush my hair while full force drying it.

Definitely wondering if the stylist just messed up your curls and not the treatment. I could tell right before you added the gel how much better your hair looked and knew you'd get a great result. I'm 2C/3A, and my stylist has gorgeous curls like yours (and her hair is red, too, so so gorgeous), but my hair comes out kinda blah every time she styles it. I get much more defined waves and curls when I do it myself the next day (and I always wash and style the next day). She's too gentle, and I'm like, no, you need to *scrunch* it and then pixie diffuse right up to the scalp! None of this gently cupping my hair in the diffuser and moving it in the general direction of my scalp. On that note, I would love to see how your hair does over the next couple of weeks as well as how it does on others' hair. And yes, *cream before gel* is so key for me as a high-porosity-haired person!

(Currently growing out my hair a bit, so I'll be able to put this off for a few months. 😏)

Suggestion to my own post (thanks to a therapy prompt LOL): talk about this stuff at the *beginning* of the appointment, before anything has been done. Explain your idiosyncrasies - curl patterns (like the 2B over 3A at the back of my head), usual products, and preferred styling routines - and be very specific! Since you've already explained your needs, maybe mid-styling, we could ask, "Since I usually [styling technique], will this give a similar result?" Also: I liked how my last stylist cut my hair, but not how he styled it, and the last few times I left with it still damp "so it would air-dry" - which it did, but I could duck into the ladies' room, add a little water, and correct the loose finger-curling that fought with my pattern.

Is it good to use so many bond building and protein products at one time??

Do you like to wear your hair in a certain way when you’re working out or clean around the house that keeps your curls still looking beautiful 🤩

I work at a ranch and I never know how to wear my hair so as not to damage my curls

So funny how only we know how our hair behaves to different techniques unlike any stylist

I was waiting for you to review this product. The 15 washes claim got me very interested, but the finger coiling is not doing it for me. I was worried it could have a relaxant effect on the hair if it's not previously damaged but seems like that's a non-concern.
@lucindapueblaclark4979Ай бұрын
it sucks that you had that experience, fortunately, it wasn't something non-reversible. Can you use the gel without having to use the entire treatment?

Love what you did. I need help with my curls! I've been curly for over two months, and I'm getting so frustrated. I live in Jersey and i don't trust anyone with my hair. I have very fine, thin hair, menopausal. Girl i got hair issues. I've also been using tre luxe

Hi there I discovered your channel quite recently and it is such a blast but also a life/hair saver! Though here's the thing, I live in Europe and the products you use are way more expensive because of shipment. I've been in Europe for 5 years now and I really can't stick to a product! Whenever I find a good one that works with my hair it's taken down... It would be extremely helpful if you could perhaps give some recommendations for EU products pretty please 🙈

I had a treatment yesterday. I came out a little disappointed. I am waiting to restyle tomorrow.

I think it would be interesting to see you get it done again and you do it on Amanda to see the differences between techniques

Hate vertical videos!!!!! 😢 So sad to have watched you have to go threw this. Even, I knew, you were not going to like it. EVERYONE'S curls are different thus needing different techniques for styling. I think you're your best stylist!!! I know getting pampered is SO nice! Im so sorry. BUT you repaired it BEAUTIFULLY!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING, MELL❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

My sister is a great hairstylist and can cut my curly hair really well, but even with her, who is the only stylist I trust to touch my curls, I still style and diffuse it myself!

I like to wear my hair staight with heat styling, I also like to wear it in its natural curly state. Do you know if I get this treatment done can I wear my hair back and forth between staight and curly without causing damage?
@heyheyrob19722 ай бұрын
I usually have the stylist straighten my hair. I have learned to do that so I can see the cut better, AND so that I don't leave hating my curls. Stylists never put enough product in my hair, or the right products (and I really adore my hair stylist whom I go to for just cuts x 15 years) I can wear my hair straight (ish)- aka give it different, bigger curls...lol., but my stylist can get my hair straight ------- like that, and it's kind fun to have straight hair one and awhile. The salon uses Aveda products, and not once has she ever used the curly products in my hair.

My hair is kinky, curly and porous very porous like yours and my hair damaged because I usually blow dry it. I do have some old Plex products that I use and I like so I’m going to definitely try these two new ones. This is a great video thank you for all of the information.

So would you use the number 6 with this, or is it an either or thing?
@carolinecoward4692 ай бұрын
I often need to restyle after a salon visit. I have fine and high porosity hair, and I need the most help with volume. What I usually get is definition but flat. No bueno!

Just a point of clarification: you said, more than once I believe, that the treatment is supposed to last "up to 15 washes." Then you said, more than once I believe, that that would be about 15 washes...or two weeks (or some such-- not sure if it was 2-3 weeks or what). But "up to 15 washes means NO MORE THAN 15 washes. That is, could be 15, could be 10, could be zero, technically. It's a waffle phrase brands use because they know we'll take to mean "approximately 15' when 15 is the UPPER limit, and they are giving us NO lower limit.

Bottom line: try it for yourself. And as we’ve seen in this video, the product is not always to blame.
