For the longest time I just assumed Him was a lady. I mean, those boots. I didn't figure out he was Satan until years & years later when I was early in my teens. And Courage the Cowardly Dog has always been my favorite scary cartoon. I remember my first time watching the episode with Ramses, I was equally terrified & also surprisingly amused. I also agree with what you said, about teaching kids those important lessons along the way. I really admire Courage because no matter how scared he gets, he always fights to save his family. That always gets me right in the heart.

Party of One was the first episode I saw of MLP and Pinkie's breakdown caught me off guard. This was also the first clip I ever saw of Ren and Stimpy. It definitely made an impression.

They actually included the Invader Zim episode on the new version of this video. In the new version, there are 30 moments, and the video is a little over an hour long. And there were even some entries reused from this list, like the Mr. Meaty one.

I remember the captain planet one about aids. I was a kid then watching cartoons with my grandmother. Right after loony toons captain planet comes on and of course I'm excited. And that has to be the episode to air. It was hella awkward I knew what aids was from school and didn't expect me and gram to share that awkward 22 minutes

Can’t think of a TV moment that scared me off the top of my head, but a video game comes to mind. In LEGO Marvel Superheroes, there’s a level where you have to escape the sewers and learn that Venom is down there with you. He gives off some basic spook vibes. Nothing actually scary, until you make it to the brightest part of the level. I recall it being dimly lit with test tubes on both sides. As you progress, the lights begin to flicker, and the once-stable camera starts panning on its own as it tries to follow Venom jumping around the rafters. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. The screen goes black for a moment before Venom straight-up jumpscares your screen. Then the game continues as normal. Or it would have, if I hadn’t paused for 5 minutes after having the bejabbers scared out of me. Best part? This game released in 2013. FNAF 1 didn’t release until 2014, meaning the devs weren’t trying to get on the jumpscare bandwagon. They just felt like being dicks to kids playing a game where you mindlessly spam attacks and solve simple puzzles.
