At Tokyo Olympics, Oh Sanguk lost quarterfinal match against Georgian player 13 to 15. One of the plays of the match, Oh lost 2 points in single play. Two fencers got hit, a point was given to the opponent. Oh challenged it. The judge kept the call after review. The score keeper gave another point to the opponent by mistake. No one noticed it at the site.

what you need to do to be a good olympic fencer: -be flexible -be durable -be fast -have a good practice/workout routine -have good footwork -understand the physics behind flimsy pokey sticks -be a terrible/suicidal fencer -only have the ability to move back and forth -lunge to die -be unable to detect/execute/defend attacks to the legs if youre "sabreuer", and anywhere except the chest if youre a foilist -not be able to lift things heavier than 770 grams

Got me in the first half! Olympic fencing has pretty much nothing to do with real swordsmanship. The lack of trying to defend oneself from the enemy afterblow is what bothers me the most... What would you achieve by landing the first hit, only to be run through by the opponent immediately after?
