I'm an atheist and I personally love the lyrics. It may be God fearing and all, but it's also very dark, poetic and intelligently written. You don't need to be God fearing yourself to appreciate the song and meaning.

from what ive seen people that do this to believers often do it because they are miserable and they see you are not because of your beliefs and they want to tear you down so you feel just as bad as they do. Then there are others that are atheist and think because you believe in the bible based on faith that you are idiotic and crazy, which in and of itself is stupid because the majority of atheists worship science (taking it as actual fact without ever verifying it simply because it makes sense and they like it aka blind faith even though its often proven wrong, i mean if 2 people are arguing over a piece of bread neither will concede then the logical thing to do is to halve the bread so everyone is happy. Makes sense, they like the idea and its logical, switch that piece of bread with a baby and it still makes sense that way everyone gets a baby but that would then be the wrong thing to do because both want a live one)

As an athiest myself I prescribe to the idea that it's my decision to believe or not and mine alone. It's when you push those beliefs on others to make up for your own uncertainties that you begin to look weak in your convictions and in turn open yourself up for others to try to sway you. Regardless of what they do in Sundays, Oh, Sleeper is such a powerful and sincere force in the realm of music that I just couldn't imagine letting my own prejudices get in the way of listening to their music.

I got to meet Micah this year at the Ichthus music festival in Kentucky (I bought one of their band t-shirts from him actually haha), and he was such a cool and friendly person to talk to! The relation he feels he has with the specific deity he worships ultimately doesn't bother me nor do the fairy tales he sings about (in fact it's quite touching). He has faith, therefore he doesn't question. This makes his emotions very real and strong and that comes through in the music and especially his voice. As long as you don't force-feed your blind beliefs to others or blow up their town market for not following suit but just write songs, you're ok in my book!

To me, music is about connecting with people regardless of gender, creed, beliefs, sexuality, or anything else that defines us. This dude is someone who is completely solid and happy with his beliefs, and even as someone who doesn't believe in Christian beliefs myself, I think that following in the nature of the music (which I'm assuming is a reason a lot of you are here), that we should respect his beliefs and not act so intolerant. Also, love is hard to describe. Can't blame him for it.

For the historic events point, There is such a thing as self fulfilling prophesy. Example, if I read a book that said "a castle would be built in England" then I take it upon myself to build that castle, could you say that prediction came true? Yes... technically, but you wouldn't call it miraculous. If an event happens for any reason it's not impossible because it happened.

When I argue with atheists I usually try to refrain from Bias. When arguing I usually never reveal my religion because it causes people to make assumptions. The only time my religion becomes apparent is when I'm arguing over the validity of Christianity and Judaism. It all depends on what you're trying to attack. If you try and attack religion itself, then I'll refrain from bias. But Christianity and Judaism makes it more personal. I hope you can understand.

If you would look at my previous comments i'm christian...And i'm not blind my eyes have been opened since i have been an atheist and i grew up in a religious home where my father is a very popular preacher he had his own t.v. show where he preached to people and multiple records and being around people like my father i have realized these things when i was atheist or now.
