This song is about a father finding his daughter home, in a bed of blood. (her virginity has been robbed, due to rape). the father, like any father, is furious, and feels like he is the judge to kill the rapist. this seems harsh, but you have to remember, this is album is about the book of Revelation.

I was in a Christian metal band and before we got distracted. Like smoking greenery an really some members egos more than anything. We were well on the way to being nifty. I think it was because of no distractions like partying gets in the way. I played in bands after an everyone had to smoke or drink during or before. An no offense I got creative sure but it threw off practice so bad. I wished I could go back I'd never started smoking in the first place. An this is coming from someone non religious it just tainted my whole mindset as a crutch for other things I felt.

True man, people get too upset about different types of music and the lyrical content, if you don't like it, don't listen to it, if you like it, go for it! I go to Church sometimes, I'm not religious at all, but I enjoy learning more about it, as I do many different culteral and religious beliefs, it's interesting stuff either way imo :p

James Erwin explains in an interview that the new album takes place after "Son of the Morning" and follows the life of a Priest and his atheist daughter. The album is a spin on the rapture and explores how people would react in end times. At the beginning of the record, the Priest takes the role of judge now that he thinks God is dead and follows the daughter's path of finding God throughout the record. ^Copied from Wikipedia, just in case anyone was confused as to what the message is.

there are several other songs that you should listen to before the family ruin. its a concept album, they're meant to be listened to in order, plus, the family ruin references claws of a god and means to believe, so those should be heard first.

The father, the zealot. "Our Judge is dead, but one must reside to bring down judgement." It sounds like the bed of blood is referring to the lyrics of the previous song. As he is a zealous believer in his Captain, any doubt, her doubt, specifically would be seen as an attack (of sorts), of course it has to come from somewhere, hence "What man has entered my home?" Here he starts his decline, assuming the role of Judge, and carrying forth acts of murder without any real direction....

Reading a lot of comments posted on all the songs on here, and it seams like it's just a whole bunch of controversy about God. Well, I'm just going to say it seams a little too much for a huge explosion to have happened by itself. I do believe there is a God that loves every man, and is willing to accept them into his kingdom. I've also seen people on here being a little hostile toward the atheists and agnostics commenting on a christian band. Remember, the Lord wouldn't hang around the people who followed Him all the time, but instead hung around the sinners and ones who were lost. I'm open to comments from Christians and Agnostics/Atheists alike.

If you're right, and the god exists (which i don't believe he does, but that has nothing to do with what i'm going to say) and i mean YOUR god, not some Egyptian god of death or maybe Slavic god or gods or something, i really think he'd welcome all humans to stay at his side, no matter if he/she was a believer or not, if he/she was a religious person or not. After all, according to your religion god loves all humans, so why would he hate anyone, simply because he chose to go his own path, and not believe in him?
@sbsnate23129 жыл бұрын
Sidewinder This is not a direct answer to your question, but if you would accept Him and His Word, then you will understand why is that you ask.
@smiglo1129 жыл бұрын
Sebastián Natanael Murillo Barrantes Never going to happen, i'm not going to betray my own beliefs... If i did that, what kind of a person would i be? Only weakminded people change their beliefs like *snap* done! Well that's oversimplifying of course, but i hope you understand what i'm trying to say? Because there are people, who believe in one thing, and then something happens, and they change their mind in a mater of days. Thus i'm not going to accept the word of christian god, same as i'm not going to believe in Allah, who btw is the same one, nor am i going to pray to Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Slavic or other gods, because i don't believe in them, and i doubt anything will change it. And the question is still up, according to christian and jewish religions, god created human and treats him like his child, and gave him free will. Why then should he punish people for chosing not to believe in him? I can understand if someone would misuse the free will, and do bad things, like murder... But simply going by and chosing your own way of life in no way is worth punishing. And if the god would do that, then your religion is all wrong, cause he's not a loving and caring creator of the world, but rather someone brutal, who likes to punish people, and wants them to follow his word exactly, and created free will only to punish people for chosing differently. Thus you have Allah then!

+88ThePilot Nope, this answers nobodies questions. Anyone smart enough to realize it, anyway. Heh. There's no WAY "He" is perfect if he said he created us perfect, then we go on to fuck everything up. He created us that way. Whoopsies, says God, and throws the ones that he created into Hell. Besides the sinner he, emphasize this, throws THE CHILDREN INTO HELL. ALL OF THEM. Seriously? Unless people with free will and decisions follow his every footstep, he throws them into eternal torture. You can't tell me that THIS makes any sense whatsoever. Amen to the Potato God. He lets his people go. XD
@mage_of_pollution9 жыл бұрын
Well, like I said, he created us perfect, so why would we break away from that perfection? We were perfectly fine in our condition. So why would we be tempted? >_> It just doesn't make sense.

Someone a said this ong is about Jesus. Though I agree that the art in music is that a song can be perceived differently by different people. But, the original meaning of the song is about a man who hunts down and kills the rapist of his daughter.
@lust_for_snipers89517 жыл бұрын
Hiøtr Björnson Snepill this song is telling a story of the man empowered by vengeance, but it actually represents how God will avenge his people in the book of Psalms. The cowards are the ones who make martyrs out of Christians.

After the original battle of God and lucifer. Where there's a period of 'silence'. The father is more than likely the man Micah says in a interview is a 'christian' who's a proclaimed christian, but doesn't walk it in real life. the daughter is a complete non-believer.
@jbouthiettejr13 жыл бұрын
In the story, God has disappeared. The father (a holy man, I believe) feels abandoned, but as the beginning of this song explains, he'll take it upon himself to enforce God's moral law, apparently starting with his daughter's rapist. And in doing so, he seals his power-hungry fate...

Sorry but I thought this was Christian band, I'm not, but I can't help but wonder how can you write lyrics about such revenge and be Christian as well? My personal opinion on how to handle a major offence like rape is totally irrelevant. One more thought...How can you burn alive someone if you 've previously cut his head off?

Rivor66 I don't mean to dis the band, I just found them today, but those two questions arised instantly. By the way, I really liked some of their music (and lyrics)
@nathanolander81509 жыл бұрын
Rivor66 i thought similar things upon first learning of the band, but though our God is a God of love and mercy, he is also a very just God, with righteous anger, there are many examples of this in the old testament, entire families were stoned to death because of one mans sin. to us humans this seems extreme, but we are used to sin, God is Holy and cannot tolerate be in the prescence of sin, which is why he sent his son to die on the cross and rise again, paying the debts for our sins, we are washed in his blood, instead of seeing the sinners we are that deserve eternal hell, He sees Christians with the same love that he has for his son. the old testament was under an old covenent with God, where executions and sacrifices were absolutely necessary for us (not that God needed it but we did) but after Christ we have new ways of dealing with things being backed by Christs love. sorry i kinda rambled on but i hope this helps im just really passionate about it lol

@chrisepperson55979 жыл бұрын
Very legitimate question, In context of the album, he later turns to this song in family ruin. "Who took a license to kill without cost." In this song he says, "Our judge is dead, (Being God), but one must reside to bring down judgement." He's assuming the position of God. Nietszche, the atheist himself said this in his quote "God is Dead." "Will we not have to become gods ourselves worthy of such a deed?"
