When I was much younger, I just sang along with the older ones not understanding the meanings of lyrics. When I learned my English, I go puzzled. As I grew older I found the lyrics funny but what beautiful song we have. Thank again Peter. Keep on singing for us.It would be nice to play old folks songs even during my funeral when I will be 100 years old of course!

Thanks, Cathy. Yes, the words are quite daft on this one and come under the category nonsense song. Yes, I will keep singing the old songs and hopefully until I'm a 100. I have had a few requests for funerals and am happy to oblige. I'm going to have "The Day Thou gavest" a great old hymn and a funny one which I've not chosen yet. Glad you are going to sing some of these to your Grandchildren. I became a Granddad last week so am hoping to educate them in quality songs.

It was so enjoyable listening to this arrangement, great all around performance.............Thank You P.M. Adamson! I used to play this on my Horner harmonica growing up in Hawaii and when I was in the Boy Scouts:)

Thanks, Larry. Your comment is much appreciated. Boy Scouts and harmonicas are two great things. the Scouts teach skills and friendship and it saddens me that many of these activities are in decline with young people no longer playing out or joining a variety of organisations. The norm now is bedroom computers and gaming. The Harmonica is small . sounds great and is portable. Outdoes a Piano on that. Hawaii sounds great.

Aloha Peter, yes I agree this digital age has largely done away with traditional ways of upbringing and growing up in developed countries, being old school myself I deeply lament this trend. I think what you do in celebrating and honoring old classics will help us understand history and what made this country and society :)

I don't catch on the lyrics,why it says"The sun so hot,I froze to death"?
@pmadamson8 жыл бұрын
It is meant to be comical (funny) or lighthearted in its contradiction. rained all night ,the day I left the weather it was dry etc. Sometimes these Lyrics are called nonsense songs. Hope that explains the odd words in the songs. Thanks for listening in to my channel.
