Hi Sean, cool vid mate. BM is built on controversy, Its not just how the music resonates with people that has made it so massive/popular... and obviously peeps love to be offended. Even the fans who call for BM to be offensive get offended when people get offended by a bands intended offensiveness haha! Theres drama to be had, people love it and love to hate it. Given how much BM prides itself on its misanthropy etc. It works brilliantly in a world drenched in social media blabber. People will try to find out whos sincere in their beliefs and take action in whatever way they see fit. Tis the way of the world. . ...and Lets not forget that Motorhead had a Swastika on their debut record. Lovin Motorhead didnt make me grow a Charlie Chaplin mustache and go seig heiling in the forest haha! Good to see ya Mr Beast!

Great video and topic, Sean. I have no problem with people following their own moral compass as long as they give me the same courtesy. I can be friends with someone who would never listen to Goatmoon, but they might consider me a bad person because of certain records I enjoy. 😀 I'm not a Satanist, Christian, or leftist, but I enjoy bands that would fall into those categories. Cheers, Beast!

That's the kind of reply I was hoping for, Scott. I would never criticise someone's musical choices, but by the same token, if they were here trying to forcefully project their ideologies, then I would speak up too. Thanks for watching, dude 🤘

My take might be a poser's take, but I absolutely understand why people might be offended by certain things, and I think people have the right to be offended by whatever offends them and they can refuse to buy whatever music from whatever label they want. It's a personal choice and I respect that, just like I respect people's personal choice to listen to those artists and buy from those labels. To quote Johnny Mc, it's all about one's own moral compass. I will say that it works both ways: if Person A wants Person B to respect Person A's choice to listen to controversial music, then Person A better respect Person B's choice not to. Just my opinion, being the bleeding heart poser that I am :D

Much angry music is just being truthful about the state of humanity, and humans' shallow societal norms/morality being forced upon sovereign beings. Also, there are beings on "earth" that look human but are Not human. I am Not human, and Black Metal is my fav metal.

Great update Sean all awesome bands. Some of the nicest guys in the VC are the ones who show sketchy stuff 🤣🤣. People now love to be offended, its like the ones who say I didn’t buy it from a Dubious label but I love the music doesn’t make sense to me, like saying everyone who bought the Rage against the Machine single and put it to #1 is a Left wing socialist. Anyway what I’m trying to say is listen to what you want.

I'm by no means a gatekeeper, and I LOVE Black Metal, but there's Sketchy and then there's SKETCHY. Goatmoon are one of the most infamous NSBM bands out there, and Drowning the Light literally have a release called 'Defenders of the Aryan Race'. Comparing the type of hate these bands spread through their lyrics and ideologies to Cannibal Corpse is a false equivalence. Cannibal Corpse don't actually fuck women with knives; these guys ARE actual fascists. I'm not judging you at all dude, and I hope you know that, but maybe it hadn't occurred to you that by investing in the music of these 'artists', you're literally funding hate speech and fascism. I hope you don't take offence to me bringing this to your attention, but I feel it's important to have these discussions when things like this come up. Especially when the topic is raised by someone I respect as thoroughly as I do you. Cheers! 🤘

Glad to hear it! I'll admit I listen to, and indeed own, some stuff that people would rightly describe as 'edgy' or even 'sketchy', but I personally draw my lines at not buying or promoting anything by any band or artist that has fascist members or past, though I would still potentially 'steal' it(😜), if I deem it good enough musically for me to need it in my life. As for actual NSBM, I personally want no part in that shit whatsoever. But I'm not gonna call someone a fascist for simply enjoying music, especially when that person's personality clearly displays that they don't harbour such thoughts or ideologies. I don't understand why anyone without those thoughts would WANT to listen to anything of that nature, but we're all different, and I accept that I don't NEED to understand everything...

Some bands get labelled as "NSBM" when really, strictly speaking, they aren't (e.g. Burzum, Taake, Horna, Inquisition, Nargaroth, Judas Iscariot) Some bands used to be NSBM but aren't anymore (e.g Satanic Warmaster) Some bands claim to not be NSBM, or claim to have renounced the ideology, when very likely this is not actually the case (e.g. Graveland, Nokturnal Mortum, Grand Belial's Key) Some bands are full-on, openly NSBM (e.g Peste Noire, Goatmoon, Absurd, and all the bands with lame douchebag NS names like M8L8TH etc.) At the end of the day, if the music is genuinely that good then it's probably worth listening to, regardless of ideology. That said, the only actual NSBM album I genuinely love is Carelian Satanist Madness by Satanic Warmaster. Peste Noire debut is very good, but some of their later stuff is pretty terrible. Nokturnal Mortum have some good albums but I've never been a massive fan. Tried listening to Goatmoon and thought it was pretty decent but nothing exceptional. Tried listening to Graveland and wasn't particularly impressed at all. Tried listening to Grand Belial's Key and thought it was mostly utter shite (talk about overhyped!). Tried listening to Absurd and thought it was even worse than Grand Belial's Key. The only bands I refuse to listen to are the aforementioned ones with douchebag names, and I'm fairly certain I'm not missing out on anything by doing so..
