I had decorative scoops in my kitchen that was wooden. I had one just like that I believe the little place in the bottom is where the handle was. I don’t know why I ever got rid of them. I love them. and I also remember getting my foot measured at the foot store with something like that. Great memories going downtown with mom on Saturday.

Great finds! My parents collected antiques for 68 years. I have seen the back of hand mirrors like yours covered with a pretty floral tapestry brocade material of the time period they were made. They were usually a neutral floral background.

Good morning Julie, it looks so cozy there by the fire!😊 You sure do look gorgeous on this day!❤ I've said it before, i just have an obsession with anything old & made of wood! From the tiniest to the largest of pieces! The little matchbox is just sweet!😊 Oh wow the old Dr Scholls foot measure is such a cool & unique find! I bet that used to be in one of the nice dept stores back in the day! I looked it up, its just so interesting & its from 1930-35 from what i could tell! I think i would do a google lens on it, If you haven't already! But a great find for sure!!😊 The brush & mirror are really pretty, I'm sure the mirror matched the brush & that brass piece is missing. I'd lay just like you have it too, that mirror itself is beautiful! I have an old vintage vanity, its small, but really cute. I'd love to have a really old one eventually. I have one of the vanity mirrors i like to keep on it & an old antique brush, a couple vintage perfume bottles & a few other things. I'd love to find a 3piece comb, brush & mirror set. I have a little collection of old vintage perfume bottles. I have 3 little shelves i ordered from amazon that are really pretty & i had them on the wall right beside the vanity. I kept some of the perfume bottles & a few little other pieces on them.. it looked really pretty all together. I have a little collection of the silver trinket boxes i keep on the vanity & shelves also. I'll probably set it up the same way when we get in the house here in a few more weeks. Love the jewelry box! So neat that the music still works. I remember the jewelry box my mama had from as far back as i can remember, it was black with gold & a red velvety inside. Smaller than yours but opened to 2 levels. The music box piece on hers didn't work. But it was full of vintage pieces she no longer wore. She had one of the Armoire's she keep the things she wore in. That art piece is so pretty!❤ I love the green too, with the old country setting, the beautiful church & trees.. and so cool that its an original! Another great find!😊 I really enjoyed seeing this great haul, so many great pieces! Thanks for sharing & pray you have a blessed rest of you weekend!🙏🏻😊

Loved it all. I especially love the picture and jewelry box. I had an old brush and mirror, and wouldn’t you know it, I broke the mirror. I love those sets. Julie, I had a kitten who would find my jewelry and drag it in the floor. He liked to bite on it too. Another thing he loved when I got my sewing box out. One time I was on the phone and I looked and he had three needles sticking out of his mouth. I had to talk softly and not scare him and get them away from him. He will be seven in the summer and he has definitely calmed down. They are so ornery when they are little and kind of fun. Elizabeth’s kitty is adorable. I cannot wait to see your changes. I don’t like to start projects either , unless the house is in order and clean and I don’t have anything going on. Take care ❤❤❤

Sometimes we come across something that just brings us joy and $15 for something that makes us smile every time we look at it is a bargain. I also love when those pieces have survived for soooo long to then find their way into my home. I’m always saying to my hubby , I wish the really old pieces could talk so I knew about it’s journey. I’m watching with him now and he just said If that shoe sizer could talk it would say,”I have measured way to many stinky feet “ 😂🤣Not exactly what I meant but he is probably right. He cracks me up😄He said that I am always imagining a great story but that the truth is that most of my really old found treasures would tell the same story, “I’ve been in a box of junk for 50 years”😂🤣We are cracking up.

I think the match box holder is an interior decorator piece. It was a scoop, with a handle coming off the bottom where the screw is. And it held a votive candle. I had one on my wall, back in the 70s. Very primitive like you like.

The “matchbox” holder you bought…I found a set of those last year in bright purple. Mine have wooden knobs on the bottom. They got stripped down and painted then distressed. I put small wooden candle holders inside and I put taper candles in them and hung them on my living room wall along the bay window. I sure hope I made sense. They are super cute!

Julie, I have jewelry in my top dresser drawer. My cat opens the drawer and I found chains, rings and other things in the floor. I had to get little containers with lids so if he got in there he couldn't get to them. He gets in other drawers to but the jewelry is the only one I worry about. I know better than to leave any accessible to him. Loved your finds and also love thrifting just don't get out to look very often.

If you do use matches, buy the mid size matches to store inside your box and adhere the striking square to the back or bottom of the finish match box. They are perfect little peices to make over. I have really enjoyed watching the thrift finds and DIY makeovers that you share. Keep up the good work. Elizabeth’s kitty is a cat burglar. Reminds of years ago I would leave a loaf of bread on a kitchen counter. Get up in the morning and it would be gone. I put it down to my husband and sons coming home late and eating it all. After about a week of this I was doing a big cleanup under my bed I found all the missing bread. It was our new rescue cat! She just had them all in a pile. So I started using a bread box and bought her a pile of fluffy toys. I think she must have had babies before I got her and she missed them.
