I was there for 4 days once, and it did not rain,. However, I never saw the sun -- it was heavy overcast the whole time. That was a major problem for British and American bombers. It was hard to find days when the planes could expect clear weather for long enough to fly a day long mission.

The Greatest Anti-War film ever made. Naturally, the power's that be did everything possible to undermine this gem. I wrote to the BBC in 2014, asking them when they were going to televise this greatest of all War films, seeing how it was most suitable for that year, and right up to 2018, and got no reply; and still they haven't shown it on TV, and probably won't. When first released in 1969, in the USA, the anti Vietnam war protests were at there highest. So the film release was delayed ,without explanation, then shown without publicity by the film maker, releasing in minor cinemas , situated in side streets. Only in the last 7 years , as the film been released, on a DVD for the first time. Even Sir Richard Attenborough ( director) could not explain the delays. Do you think there is a link with all this ??

I did managed to see the full length version in Canada in my telly, many years ago. It was a shame that it didn't play on the Canadian tv station last November being the 100 anniversary of the ending of World War 1

AN ABSOLUTE GEM, THAT WILL NEVER BE BETTERED. OUT NOW ON DVD& BLU RAY

If at all possible, SEE IT IN 3-D. (Maybe you can find a theater that's doing a special showing.) It was simply phenomenal in a way that's hard to explain to someone who hasn't seen it. Phillip is right to put his comments in all caps. You MUST see this if you have any interest in WWI history at all. It was like looking at WWI for the first time. Not silent, grainy, scratchy black-and-white images. It was in color, it was in 3-D, the people were talking, and it put me right there in the trenches in a way I'd never imagined I could be. In one segment, you were looking into the eyes of men who would, in fifteen minutes, be dead. And they knew it. For the first time, you could see what last words they were saying to each other. Powerful. I understand that Peter Jackson has ten hours of unused archival footage, and I hope he does a sequel, possibly showing more aviation operations than "They Shall Not Grow Old" did. Perhaps they could offer it as a double bill and give us the chance to see it all in 3-D again. I know I'd pay $50 to watch it.

I don´t miss the war years ´cause I didn´t lived them but I´m very worried with the ignorance people nowadays show about the reasons why so many fellows suffered fought and died for LIBERTY. Thanks God at least England got the European Union. It gaves me some hope. Nationalities must prevail. There always be an England. God bless you all, keep on free from any kind of foreign domination. We must be worthy and thinkful of so much blood spilt in two Great Wars. Salut from Brazil.
