I was just there in March and had the early dinner, around 5 pm, and the ukulele player was there walking around the whole restaurant performing. Our food was good and the service was pretty good also. Our servers did come back several times with the skewers. I don't remember feeling rushed, but looking back now it was a quick dinner of probably less than an hour for me and my wife. All said, this is still one of my favorite places on property.

Glad you guys prioritized this review after the recent comments. We were troubled, too, but visited last week and had a GREAT experience. All the apps were awesome -- those wings! Agree that the shrimp is the weakest main course offering. We were there with our 2-year-old daughter and had a fun and relaxing time -- service was quick, but we didn't feel rushed at all. Our reservations were in the early dinner timeframe, and we were able to enjoy some of the musical performance -- the uke player was there -- and childrens' games (coconut sweep). It was a great and memorable time.

'Ohana is great! I agree that they will try and rush you. Unfortunately It is up to you to control that and request that the next course not start until you are ready. We frequent the Tambu Lounge in front of the 'Ohana. You can get the wings and bread pudding there and they are always great.

Ohana is our absolute favorite and a must do. When we were the in September we had a 7:30 reservation. We requested a fireworks viewing table and were seated at the window with the castle right front center. The waitress asked if we planned to stay for the fireworks which were at 9 and when we said yes she said great this will be relaxing and fun! No rush, no complaints, amazing food, service and did not have one feeling you are speaking of. Perhaps next time mention to the server you want a slower paced evening. Can't wait to go again in December but this time watching from the beach and staying at the Polynesian.

Our family loves the ‘Ohana breakfast and dinner. The food is delicious! They do try to rush you a bit, but we only have to say once, “Keep the food coming, we are going to be here a while!” That makes the server laugh and smile, and it’s much more relaxed then.

While I would never dispute Pete, Charles, and Steve's review, or their scoring, I have to admit that I'm a bit floored. I went this past October with a group of 12 and our experience was overwhelmingly positive. I agree that the shrimp was a bit overcooked, but that's par for the course for something as finicky as shrimp is to cook. I also agree that the rest of the food offerings were delicious. From a culinary perspective, this was one of the best meals on our trip. Where I am shocked is in the feeling of being rushed. Perhaps it was the time the gang went? My party and I had a later reservation (I want to say 9pm or as late as 9:45pm), and the staff made it very clear to us that we could take all the time we wanted. Our salad, bread, and apps were waiting for us, and the staff offered to refill more than once. The main courses came regularly and often. And our drinks were refilled quickly. On top of that, the service was always welcoming and friendly - the staff explained things when things were unclear, joked with us throughout the night, and were generally fantastic. On top of all that, due to issues with our entire party during the day, we were late to the restaurant and my wife couldn't attend (which, as she was our trip planner and den mother, was heartbreaking). As I didn't realize the meal was reminiscent of Brazilian barbecue, I asked our hostess if I could place a take-out order for my wife. The hostess told me (tip for anyone who doesn't know!) that I could request a "doggie bag" for uneaten food and the staff would comply. The staff actually made sure we had "enough" of everything, including apps, bread, and dessert, to take back to our resort - we actually had more food than we knew what to do with (thank God for kitchenettes)!!! All in all, I'll rank my experience a solid 10. So I'm bumping up the DIS's rating to an 8 - 8.5. :) Keep up the great work, all! My family loves these videos!!!

We ate here Monday evening. It was amazing! Everything that Pete dinged them for was addressed: we arrived early for our reservation and were seated immediately (with plenty of bread for our party of 6). Our server chatted pleasantly, explaining our meal and taking our drink orders. The salad arrived, and then about 10 minutes later our apps. The meat was offered several times during the course of our meal, and the ukulele player was charming, as was the coconut race with the children. Desert was amazing! I’m thinking that someone watched this review and steps were taken, because our meal was one of the highlights of our trip! It should be noted that our reservation was for 6:45.

No complaints from us. We were there in September with a 730 reservation. Fireworks were at 9 and they seated us with a castle view at our request. Not only didn't feel rushed but our server timed it nice wirh drinks and easy going presentation for timing the fireworks perfectly. It was our favorite and will return for our December trip. I give it a 10 for overall service, food and magical experience. Perhaps you are too immersed in everything Disney being a local and for those of us who vacation there once a year a night at Ohana overall is an amazing experience keeping in mind the visit to the beautiful Polynesian the sights, the smells, piping in the music to Happily Ever After. The overall experience for us was top of our list. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

We did our first, and to date only, trip to Ohana last June. We had a 5:00 reservation. They were about 15 minutes late seating us. That was ok because part of our group was running late and looking around. The food for us was amazing. Everything was hot and tasty. I have to say we found the pace pretty normal. We had time to talk before the skewers came around. The skewers came to us three times by two different people. The dessert was awesome too. Catching a boat to Magic Kingdom for the night was a perfect finish. I guess this is definitely a night to night place.

I ate at O'Hana's on Valentine's Day of 2019. Our reservations were at 5:30 and the pacing was perfect. There was no rush, which I was surprised by on a holiday, and the service was spot on - and the live entertainment was back ;)

My husband and I ate at Ohana for the first time last May. We weren’t rushed at all and they brought the skewers around multiple times before they brought dessert so it’s strange what a difference a year can make. This year we did the room service and we liked that more because we love the food and we could just sit there and enjoy each other‘s company without all the noise and the feast for one is plenty of food for two people. I ate the bread pudding for breakfast the next day. 😋

Soooo glad you guys did a review of O'hana. It might be our favorite restaurant on property. Though we have never had a bad experience there, I definitely can see where one could be rushed. The last time we were there, the meal wasn't rushed. From the food, atmosphere, service, and pace, it couldn't have been better. BUT, like Pete, the next time we go, I will make it a point to tell our server to please not rush us. I will have no problem requesting that. I'm a fast paced type person, but there are 2 things I take my time at; doing paperwork, and eating a meal. Great job, guys!

We ate there just the other night... Saturday night. We had a late reservation, right after the fireworks at 9:25. I was assumed we would be rushed but we actually weren’t and had a great time and a great meal. It was just two of us and our server, Gary was awesome :) 🤷🏻‍♀️ I guess it just depends on when you go? I haven’t had a bad experience yet and this is my third time in three years so I’m sure it varies.we also did have the eukele player there.

We must've been lucky with our servers. We ate there last night and had some of the best service I've had on property. We were there for about an hour and a half (although the last 20 were for the fireworks) and didn't feel rushed at all. Arrived at 7:30 for an 8:25 res and were immediately seated.

I just ate at ‘Ohana this past Sunday and it was excellent. We had a 9:30 reservation. They came by our table several times asking if we wanted more of everything. Our meal was very well paced, but I have been there before when the meal was rushed and we asked the server to slow it down. If I want more of anything and they haven’t been back around, I just ask my server. Also, the entertainer was there Sunday night. It was a guy. Lipoa, the female entertainer, is now a concierge cast member at the Polynesian.

I was hanging out at the poly last month at around 4pm on a weekday. I noticed this place seamed busy. Lots of people were waiting to be checked in. Maybe they are overbooking reservations to get more people in. They should scale back the available reservations.

When we were there a few years ago they tried rushing us and I asked our server to not bring the next course until we asked. Our server had no problem with this and waited for us to tell him we were ready to move on. The food was excellent and we're looking forward to our next visit in a few months. We do it fast but I just want to eat at my own pace. The meal should take at least an hour.

Just went last week, our main course meats were cold, just as others have complained:( so upsetting, Ohana was always my favorite and most looked forward to experience for our trips. We were also rushed and only got one round of skewers! Totally agree with Steve, should not have to ask the servers to come give us more, especially at that price point... we left wondering if we should bother to come back next time, which made me so sad. But we did have a ukulele player, I guess you guys just hit that on a bad night.

'Ohana is a wild card. I have been there MANY times. The whole experience comes down to what service that you get. I remember one time it was horrible. The server just wanted us out. They gave us one round and gave dessert and that was it. The most recent time we went, we had an AMAZING server. This man was really awesome. He went to us time after time asking if we wanted more. He also asked where we were staying and told us some cool facts about the resort we were staying at. So, it really depends what service that you get. The food is always good, but the service is not consistent.

Interesting, when i went i wasn't rushed at all, reservation was at 8:20 and we didn't get back to the hotel (all star sports) until about 11:30. We went in august as an fyi

So my husband and I ate at 'Ohana the seating before the Dis Review - the same night - and we had the EXACT experience. I felt terribly rushed and felt the service left a lot to be desired. We did have the ukulele player during our dinner which just made the place louder. Loved the food - but it was all sort of thrown at you . I felt like the servers were on some kind of relay race mentality. We were seated and ate in less than an hour! The saving grace was getting to meet Pete and the Dis crew. Go figure, go on a 10 day vacation to Disney and run into The Dis doing what they do best - checkin' things out for us. You're the best!

I'm so surprised! I've never felt rushed there. We go almost every time we're in WDW and we're there for at least an hour, if not more. Our daughter participates in the entertainment, they've come around with the ukelele at least twice, and they always come around at least 2-3 times with the skewers.

My now fiancé and I went there back in February and loved it. Similarities- I love those potstickers. I dream about them. Differences- our meal was around 2 hours long, servers came to us multiple times and even challenged my fiancé to see how many shrimp he could eat, we had a fireworks view table and they let us stay and watch even after our dessert was finished, and the ukulele guy was there and he sang happy birthday to me and it’s one of my favorite videos I have of our trip

Stayed at the Polly in Jan and Ohana and the lounge were extremely crowded the entire time. The lounge basically became a waiting area for Ohana instead of a separate lounge.

I agree with the rushed aspect of this commentary. I took my parents, husband and daughter there for breakfast years ago. My daughter loved Stitch so this was a must-do. It was one of the most rushed meals I have ever had at Disney. Service was just OK, not overly friendly and insanely rushed. We have not been back to Ohana to eat. Food was good but, of course, expensive. And for that price point, I did not appreciate being so rushed.

May 14, 2018 - Ohana Dinner. Party of 5 adults. Seated very reasonable within reservation time slot. Only 1 of us appreciated the bread. Seemed day-old. We appreciated and liked the salad. We had to request clean plates after our salad course, as they started bringing food to the table. Noodles, wings, peanut sauce are A+. Fried dumplings a tad bland. First skewer of chicken to the table was dry. Second and third rounds were much better. Steak was A+. Cooked perfectly. Overall a really good experience. Not rushed at all. Now the bad news ... $245 for 5 people will make this a one-time experience for us, or dining plan use. It was good, Not $245 good. This only makes sense as a meal credit on the dining plan.

Y'all must have gone on an "off" night...I just dined there in late March and had the evening entertainment and our table of 5 was not rushed at all. We had a 5:15pm reservation. Only time I've been rushed was once for a breakfast...in and out in 30 min. No joke.

I believe it's where you sit. We went twice last spring, and we sat up front near the bar side on the first trip, and our server forgot about us. Our res was for 7 pm and we planned to go into MK afterwards and see the Tink fly out of the castle, and we missed it. The meal took 2 1/2 hours. The worst part was that we were not seated where we could even see the show. We sat forever between services, and when the server would come by, he only had enough for half of our table of 7 and it was cold. Upon arrival for the second res, we spoke to someone about our previous experience and were seated near the windows facing MK. Our service was polite, cheerful and prompt, and food was plentiful, hot and delicious!

Ohana is hands down one of my favorite restaurants on property. The dumplings and noodles are so delicious. I really really really love all the meats. It’s a must-go for my family every time. The last time we went was late December and we didn’t have the experience the DIS had. Not even in the times before. The appetizers came out after we were done with the salad and bread. And I’d say we got our appetizers refilled once before the meat came out! It really disappoints me that Ohana is rushing people out in recent times. Especially since just a few months ago, that was not the case. The DIS got it exactly right. The food is so phenomenal, but the rushed service takes off huge points. It’s impossible to fully enjoy that meal without having the time to actually enjoy eating the food, and not scarf it down. Great review DIS team!

We ate there on May 11th at 430pm. Our "cousin" Trevor was our server and he was awesome!! We did not wait to be seated, however we were in the corner of the restaurant near the entrance. This was our first time there so next time I will request a window table. Ukulele player was great and we saw coconut races too. Food was SO delicious and food came in quick succession but we didn't feel rushed. In fact we were told to take our time. Maybe because it was early in dinner time and we wouldn't be there for the fireworks and we were in the corner?

I was at "Ohana in April 2018 at 3:30PM seating. They couldn't even find our reservation, we had to show the email before they said oh I found you. I felt they rushed you out too. Our server was nice however not top notch. I have to say Charles is right about the bread, it wasn't as good as I remember from past visits. I didn't like that they dropped the salad and other stuff at the same time and then were bringing the skewers in like 10 minutes later. We had the guy singing and the coconut race by the kids. For 3 adults is was like $130 plus tip.

When I went in December of 2016 the meal flew by. I had my grandmother with me and she's a bit of a slow eater, I however am not. Before I even got the chance to dig into the appetizers they started to come around with the meats, I felt like just asking if I could have a moment to actually enjoy the experience and the ambience. The food is always amazing! But they really need to give you time between courses to actually eat!

You all are right on point. We were there again in June of this year and we experienced the rush again, in and out in "half an hour." This is not the same Ohana that we fell in love with in 2008. There are plenty of new restaurants on the property to visit. (DIS Board Gumpy2008)

I just had my first experience at Ohana's for dinner on May 5th. I too felt rushed. They brought the dessert when I was still working on my plate. Anyway food was really good Kids had a coconut sweeping contest when I was there. They came around three times offering meats to our table.

We went to Ohana for the first time in March this year. We had to wait only a few minutes and every one was great. We sat down and the bread was good and the drinks we order came quick. The salad and the plate with the wings, pot stickers, Vegas and noodle came out together. Maybe 10 mins into eating the salad and first course they started bringing the meats. We felt so Rushed. As for the meats, the chicken was perfect, the shrimp was over cooked and steak was mealy like it was over marinated.The desert was to die for, so good. To be honest I am not sure we will go back, mostly because we felt so rushed.

My family and I were there in March, and the food came quickly. However, the server told us to please take our time and specifically said, "There is no rush." I think given that there is such a high demand for that restaurant, especially the closer you get to the fireworks, they have to set a pace. There were 7 of us, and we were there at least 2 hours. When we were there, there was a guy playing the ukulele and they also had the broom coconut racing. It was said that people complained of waiting on the boards, so they are setting a pace to get those families in as quick as possible. It's a catch 22. They could offer an outdoor seating option (of course, more construction) that would help with guests. The restaurant simply seems rushed I believe because of the immense demand. However, our experience was not rushed at all. It was perfect.

Okay I'm wicked late to the comments. And heaven knows when we will all gather there again...SIGH! But I just have to say 2 things.These guys were clearly raised by someone other than my Mother LOL She taught me young that if you were getting the bum's rush to basically just say no and put the brakes on it. .If someone was bringing me food too soon I'd very politely say thank you I'm not done with the appetizers, please bring the skewers back in a little bit. And as for getting more food in an all you can eat restaurant, esp one as pricey as Ohana, I would be asking basically any server, any hostess, or flagging down ANY "Cousin" walking by saying "I want more food, please send someone. " We may not have any control over the quality of food (so I was very glad to hear It was better than some reviewing), we do have control, to a degree, over some things.

I have a question. Do you think that the reason you were rushed may be result of the complaints of it taking too long after the time of a reservation to be seated? I guess the question to everyone is do you prefer to have a efficient yet leisurely dinner but have to wait some time after your reserved time to be seated OR do you want to get in fast but be rushed through your meal so the next party can have your table? I stopped going to Ohana a few years ago because we were having a bad experience with the food. When this happens we give the restaurant a break to allow it time to change over chef's and staff and then try it again. I was going to try it again but right now I am not sure. I guess since the food has improved I may give it a try. Thanks for the review, it is very helpful.

We really loved BREAKFAST at Ohana. Truly fun and wonderful meal. That said, we ate dinner there a few years ago, and as you said, the food was wonderful, but we felt very rushed. I personally am a small sized woman with a small appetite, and our server seemed insulted that I didn’t want more of everything. I ate and enjoyed what was put on my plate, but when I didn’t accept more he actually said “Geez, next time bring an appetite.” I thought that was kind of rude.

We never rush meals. I know they are considered appys but I’m good with the noodles steak shrimp wings etc all being out at the same time. And because they keep coming around we pass one stuff and accept when we are ready. We have always had more then 1 round not just once.

Great episode. Any chance you guys could do it again except this time for breakfast. Being that’s it’s a character experience, and I have reservations in November, I’d be interested to see if there’s a difference.

Ohana was super rushed for us as well. We did the character breakfast two years ago, and they were trying to get us in and out as fast as possible. They only offered us more food once, and they didn’t even give us everything we had the first time. And because it was a character meal, we had to wait at least as long as you had to to get all of the characters at your table, and our waitress didn’t like that. She kept coming back and asking if we had seen all the characters yet. And two people in my party, myself included, have bad anxiety and meeting characters while eating is really hard for us. So we weren’t eating as much/as fast as we would’ve if it weren’t for the characters. Honestly I was trying to meet all the characters before I really ate most of my meal, but they weren’t going to have that. That wanted us done eating before the last two characters even came to the table so that once we met them, we could leave. It was honestly the worst meal experience I had because it was so rushed and made me so anxious because of it.

Every time my family and I visit Ohana it is consistently rock solid, both food and service.. we were there in April this year and the ukulele player was there and they did the coconut races for the kids.. My two cents is that maybe the rushed service is being forced by management to turn over more tables to increase profits.. with the current Disney trends, this wouldn’t surprise me..

We've been to 'Ohana many times and while the wait to get in has always been long, it used to be a well paced meal. When we went in December 2017, it was this same kind of speed dining experience the team had. We were seated early and the dining experience was so rushed that it was uncomfortable. Let's be honest...while you can try and slow them down, the minute you get into issues with service or food or really anything with the meal, it taints the whole experience even more than it was already tarnished.

My partner and I had this issue at ‘Ohana late last year. We had multiple different servers that checked on us and brought drinks, and each really seemed like they were rushing us out. Our salad, bread and appetizers were all set down at the same time, and the dipping sauces didn’t come until we asked when the main course came around. We had to flag down servers to get the meat servers to come back. If a server came by and noticed our plates were nearly empty we were asked if we were ready for dessert, when we had only been eating for like 20-25 minutes. Overall we spent maybe 40 minutes at dinner, when I imagined this would be a slow paced, relaxed family style night out. I love fast service, but I don’t like when I am made to feel that I am moving too slowly. It was stressful, and hearing that it is like this for everyone makes me not want to go back.

I totally understand being annoyed by a fast pace. But maybe some people see it as a plus? Like if you left MK to eat lunch there, quick service gets them back in the park faster.

They mention that here as a potential pro at some point. I think that the big hurdle that stands in the way of that being a pro for everyone is the cost. A family of four doesn't usually want to spend $200+ dollars just to be rushed through their dinner and out the restaurant within an hour after being seated.

That’s what we refer to as a “Here’s your hat, what’s your hurry” restaurant. We hate feeling rushed! The food sounds great but I like having a nice, relaxed dinner. If I went there I guess I’d have to request a slower pace... but the point is you shouldn’t have to. Those who are in a rush typically don’t choose a table service restaurant outside the parks. Especially at that price point. If I want to see the fireworks, I’ll go to California Grill, where I’m welcome to stay as long as I’d like and never feel unwelcome.
