If we were hostile to the Mid-West and the West, why would we advocate for the creation of the two nations? So, look for something else to blame; leave Ojukwu out of it. This is the same thing Nnamdi Kanu is trying to do; get the Yoruba to understand that we, Ndigbo, are not their problem.

Why didn't Awolowo decide to secede from the rest when he had the opportunity to do so? Immediately Awolowo came out of prison, he had the opportunity to separate from Nigeria but he decided to accept the finance minister position under Gowon. Do you know why he decided to go with the finance minister position? It was the only opportunity he had to clip the Igbos and he didn't miss it for anything. The only problem Awolowo supposedly had in Nigeria then was with the Igbos, so clipping them was better than secession. The North almost seceded twice- during the talks on independence and immediately after the revenge coup where Aguiyi-Ironsi was killed. In every society there's a binding force. Azikiwe knew Nigeria so well and had friends from all over Nigeria even before he became a politician. So, his thinking about the project called Nigeria was entirely different from those whose exposure to Nigeria only started as politicians. Azikiwe wasn't in the same level of consciousness with them concerning the country. He was way too exposed to be tribal. And it was in that consideration that the entire political elites of Nigeria decided to write his names in the 1963 Republican constitution. Awolowo's name wasn't there. Ahmadu Bello's name wasn't there at all. Some of you should stop listening to gang ups of tribalists. They run away from the truth. Azikiwe was the only true nationalist, going by that word. Others were ethnic jingoists. The only sophisticated politician of that era was Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. Others were ethnic apologists.
