A few weeks ago i had the worst day ever on HD2. Dying to random one shots is just as "fun" as dying to ragdolling. It was that Personal Order of "Get Kills with Bombardments", people absolutely SUCK at using barrages and would throw them on 95% empty bases/objectives when they had arrived a minute late after i started clearing it. Needless to say they got absolutely no kills except for teamkills on me and even themselves. This is just that multiplied by like 5 times. Absolute d0gshit game design and the mouthbreathers on Reddit call you a "try hard" for disliking such things.

Use shield gen relay and shield backpack + the shield gen relay the DSS grants. Now you have a full path of constant shields to protect you from the bombardment on your way to all the various points of the map you wanna travel. I tried it with a friend (our very first game on that planet with the DSS) and never died to any planetery bombardment. In fact the DSS completed objectives, killed the bots fighting us and cleared fabricators randomly. Our experience was very fun but i'd appreciate that they fix shells so that they never fall closer than 15 meters away from Helldivers. Because otherwise this is still gonna be unplayable vs terminids, as shield gen relay + shield backpack are way less effective against the bugs and there's way more close close combat and unintentionnal ragdolling. But overall if you actually want DSS planetary bombardment to be fun vs bots just go double shield gen relay and back pack and you will never die to it while you contemplate the destruction.

They thought it was a good idea months ago when then DSS was already in the game, we just "unlocked" it over 2 months, probably was done before the whole "60 days to stop the bleeding player base" buff phase that ended up being... minor buffs yet again just to a wider range of weapons. So between maybe August to November, not a single second was dedicated for testing to see if the DSS was properly implemented. They just completed the code and the shitty JPG interface and sent it to be put into the game.

Should give lasers instead. Like an exclusive DSS Super Orbital Laser that does more damage and is bigger; give it the Death Star treatment basically. And we choose to summon it instead of random laser, then have orbital artillery shells blowing up in the background outside the map to give the scenery more flavor instead of destroying our ear drums and killing us.

They don’t fix or adjust the old stuff and keep on releasing new dog shit. This is a repeating cycle ever since the game dropped. Edit: As of now, the Eagle Strafing Storm is working much better compared to the Planetary Bombardment, because the Eagles actually target the enemies and Strafing run doesn’t have large AOE so it doesn’t tk as much. Cant say if they will implement the same for other Eagle strikes tho

I thought the “bombardment” would mean we get to control the bombardment as an additional stratagem, like an orbital barrage with a lower cooldown drop more bombs more consistently. They spent that last few months working on the Escalation of Freedom update, and then the 60 day plan not long after. Now that both of them are done they should be working on new progression systems and other actually new content if their word and teases on the Discord is to be believed

@@shadow-squid4872 the 60 day plan was not much more than slightly tweaking weapon statistics, not hard to do and it was required work that needed to be done to the game. Compared to other live service games, helldivers 2 is at a standstill in development. The new warbonds are unsubstantial filler cash-grabs, not even good enough to consider spending money on. They could have a working weapon modification system, modular armor system, more unique support weapons, new missions, new POI's, new vehicles (and maps to fit the vehicles in), and much much more. I grew up playing games like halo and destiny, Helldivers 2 cant hold my attention like those games can in its current state.

Update, apparently, and this has been confirmed in game, that there is a full 7 day cooldown period for any voted DSS booster/stratagem, 7 days! that it can't do anything other than give a passive +1% to the planetary defense or assault. You can not make this stuff up, you just can't, you have to be the single most out of touch person in history, up there with denying that the earth is round. Hey remember when AH said they were done nerfing things and making this bad on purpose on release? man that was a wild 2 whole seconds when Piles tried to sell us that lie.

I don't think I've been able to see the horizon since launch. Every mission is fog and smoke and rain and duststorms, it's actuallt exhausting. The players got no control. Think about this. The DSS is as it stands, a glorified mission modifier. Random barrages. It’s a mission modifier. What it SHOULD HAVE BEEN, was a huge code punched in by any helldiver, similar to the Hellbomb, and AFTER the player throws the stratagem, any teammates must confirm authorization for the DSS to fire via punching in a simple up arrow on their pad. Then the DSS barrage should be equal to 4 380mm barrages at once, in a concentrated area. Devastating. You ever seen 4 people call in a 380 on the same spot? It should look like that. And then give it a 10, even 15 minute cooldown.

The delusions are real with these people who actually think heavy armor and a shield will save you from a 380mm smacking you in the dome. It's stupid to me that we can throw a beacon for a precision orbital strike, and the destroyer knows precisely when we leave the operation area and when to mark us as a traitor. It at the same time somehow cannot mark our location as a do not target area for bombardment though.

Didn't notice a single thing, my brain just puts the barrages sounds and visuals at the backdoor and completely ignores it, I mean, it can't even kill the enemies I'm struggling with. So I ignore it... until it kills me in one shot.

Usually i barely die on lvl 10. now i die over and over on lvl 7. who the hell designed that shit? There is no creativity in it. The devs are maliciously sabotaging the game. those people need to be fired before doing more damage!

I played a couple missions with the “Eagle Storm” active and literally nothing happened. Saw eagles in the sky but nothing ever shot or strafed once. It’s literally either broken or it’s just for show and the real “merit” is the passive (faster defense and +1 to reinforcements).

I haven't changed my negative review from months ago. Yes the 60 day plan added some good things but the DSS just shows the devs dont really test their game. All they did was spam 380s across the map and called it a day. Quite a shame....

The game always have a element where thing like meteor shower, sentry..etc will track player movement and shoot directly to them, it is just that for DSS bombardment they turn the % to hitting player to 11. And people thought it is random, if it is actually random, the chance of you standing still on a obj and get head on hit is next to zero. and if it is actually random you will actually get hit by the bombardment on the side instead of dead on way more often.

DSS should've just been putting samples towards voting for that as a mechanic as it would effectively give devs real-time feedback and acting as a PTR: -using extra stratagem and planet wide booster -testing out new weapons and stratagems -introducing stat modifiers for armors, cooldowns, etc. How useful would it be if the DSS is hovering over a fire planet and we're allowed to vote for extra 25% fire resistance to all armors. It wouldn't make all armor sets useful, but players would probably intuitively vote for this perk to use the fire resistance armor to essentially be immune to fire damage while on the planet. Playing on a low-vis map? Maybe taking the radar booster clears a portion of the mini map for a large radius that's centered around the diver. Maps that have increased cooldown mods for 25%, the agency to choose either 50% reduction in cooldowns OR having an extra stratagem makes it a very interesting player vote A lot of missed opportunity and lack of forethought and creativity with whatever they thought was the purpose of implementing this mechanic.

I have expected nothing but dissapointed when I noticed the UI for the DSS getting added 3 weeks ago, the devs have put little to no effort into this for over 4 months of no real content, it was honesty clear. This update could’ve been pulled off in even just 1 week and it would’ve been the same

It's hard to believe that the developers came up with such bad realizations. I thought it would hit random enemies' bases from time to time, not just random useless drops. 💀 The problem is, this is not just random event. The Devs have been cooking this for months, and people are waiting for it, donating, and doing orders!

My favorite part is all the clips with NO enemies around but the barrage is still hitting just to kill people. I have a fix that's not great but a very easy one that would make it less annoying, THE BARRAGE MARKS ITS AREA AND GIVES YOU TIME TO MOVE. Like is thinking that damn hard.

Before it was finished, I was expecting the DSS to give players some OP stratagems temporarily. And even after I saw what it was gonna be, I thought maybe it will target enemies, not just randomly bombard everything

6:46 very much this. The barrages would be way less of a nuisance if the entire enemy spawn system wasn’t “keep teleporting in ambush squads right behind the players or a nearby rock”. If let’s say half the enemies spawned at an active base then strolled towards the new flares/farts gaining reinforcements as it travelled before you finally see the army cresting the hill coming after you that would give the DSS something to shoot at that’s not already in knife fight range of the helldivers

3:20 supply pack+heavy fortified was what I found the most success with, you’ll still die to direct hits, but with indirect hits you take a lot less damage from the shell and can often stim to survive wherever you land. Also here’s a “quick” explanation of the best way I know to not get bombed (still will happen, but makes it less likely) Explanation of mechanics: •up to 2 people will randomly selected as barrage centers •It seems like the barrage is a 100M radius that linearly gets less likely to hit as you approach the center. •the shells take a while to fall, so you may get hit outside the 100M if the targeted is moving and will get hit more if you’re moving •The barraged will usually have a weather banner, but it doesn’t seem like they always do Strategy: •everyone (including the barraged) should be either outside 100M or as close as possible to all people being barraged •if you’re distance isn’t safe (and you don’t need to run from enemies), lie down to reduce ragdoll and explosion damage •try to figure out who has the barrage, ask about weather banners then just see who’s exploding •wear heavy fortified, I do this anyways but any light armor warriors will probably take a lot more damage from any indirect hit Most of this was gotten by stealing from people on discord and testing, so it’s not 100% accurate, but it got my team a super helldive Mastia win with ~3 deaths total

I did ONE mission with the bombardment, never again. Literally 90% of my team's deaths were due to this sh*tty bombardment and we ran out of reinforcements super fast... I almost ragequitted when I got killed 3 times in a row just after a landing...

problem is dataleakers confirmed that this is a no effort recycled code of traitor barrage, they merely gave it a big inaccuracy so it shoots around the diver but can still pinpoint by chace, that is why it never attacks fortresses, just around the diver

There's a 7 day cooldown on the DSS abilities so even if you liked the bombardment or wanted to switch to the booster, you can only do so once a week. IE Once you use one of the abilities that ability goes on a 7 day cooldown before it can be used again Source: The game it's self when you look at the DSS screen

As someone who fights almost exclusively bugs: Just get good, divers! In all seriousness, though; It makes no sense that you would launch orbital bombardment at a section of the planet that has an ongoing operation. Especially when this bombardment is supposed to be coming from the DSS itself, which is a single space station firing from orbit. What would have made Much more sense is if all operations only spawned on one side of the planet, where it wasn't being actively bombarded; That way, all missions happen during the day.

I agree that the game is way too easy for what it is. And it sucks, since this game could be so much better in the difficulty department. Its not that hard to increase the difficulty either, they could just take example from HD1 and just crank enemy spawns to 11, but arrowhead can't do that due to "limitations" What limitations exactly? Ive had missions were there was an army of 100+ bugs or bots and my game performance was not hit that hard. But I think that "limitations" is just an excuse. Instead of increasing difficulty in the fun way, they just make arbitrary and braindead decisions to take player agency away, which is a terrible way to balance difficulty.

Easy fix... increase the number of bombardment intervals, lets say like 5-10 per match. But when bombardment starts, show an area of affect on the map, at least give the player the tools to avoid that area. They can even make the area large, like a quarter of the map at a time. But to bombard the entire map almost the entire time is a little overboard.
