There ain’t nothing wrong with keeping em for the smoker. There is 10s of thousands of them fish in each tributary from fall to spring.

Been fishing that spot since 1982 my buddy bought 110 acres of beautiful deep pockets there is a hole considered. One of best holes in Ohio if you want I can take you 2 up there for $450 this place is were the biggest and baddest only go my biggest is 13 pounds with average fish going for 6 pounds and up take a look at are videos Norm and Brandyn huge trout Ashtabula ohio

How badly frowned upon is it to keep steelhead/salmon? Reason I ask is because they are so rich in protein and it’s way to expensive to buy in the store.

They're non-native (aside from maybe Atlantic salmon), so would be crazy to frown upon it.

Idk wtf im doing wrong im struggling so bad this year the 3 times ive been out. My dad and I fished for them religiously in the mid.2000s and for some reason stopped until last february. I was fly fishing when I stopped, but im back.to.spinning and centerpin. Id like to.try your eggs if theyre indeed real. Only place i can get eggs im bulk are over and hour away and im not at all happy with the ones i bought WAY WAY WAY too soft. And i hate that bullshit white powder he put on them. Also before we stopped fishing for them ohio seemed to have on average bigger fish than we got in Elk Creek
