How to Build a Shaving Routine That Actually Works

The Henson shaving safety razor is one of my favorite razors, especially if you're new to wet shaving. This razor is so precise that if you don't get the correct angle, this razor will not cut. Having the right razor and blade combination is key to a successful shave. Using a high-quality shaving brush and shaving soap is key and preparing your face to be shaved. Post shave routine is critical for me. I always use a Alun block and Thayers facial toner. Hey David! I just used my Henson for the second time. The first time, I was not impressed. It didn't cut my whiskers well. I was disappointed. I just stored it back in the box and figured it was a loss for me. This was about 8 months ago and I just forgot about it.Just yesterday I was looking for something I hadn't shaved with in a long time. I came across the Henson again. I figured I'd give it a go one more time. This time, I received a great shave! I used a different blade from before. It just goes to show, that different set ups make a difference! What i thought was a poor performing razor, was just the wrong blade combination for me. The Henson is a great razor! I agree with you, a beginning traditional wet shaver should always start with a variety pack of blades! Always try a different combination of razors, soaps, aftershaves, etc. You will always end up finding one that works for you! Thanks for the video! JimG

awesome video as always. Finally broke down and got the Henson medium after starting with the mild a few weeks ago. day to day I prefer the mild just for not having to worry about cuts shaving but if it has been 3 days or so my beard is too coarse and thick and have to switch to the medium. each razor came with 100 RK blades free but I don't use them and need to order more personna blades. Persona blades are definitely the best. T3 brush is my favorite.

I had never seen that razor blade before so I looked it up, but didn't see where it was made. The story behind the company is nice (it is a Latino brand), but I didn't know the blades were made out of the Czech Republic. As a comparison, I'd like to see what you think of the Rex blades from Razor Emporium, which are also out of the Czech Republic, if you haven't tried them yet. I've had great success with them with my Henson Mild and Karve Overlander; an excellent blade in milder razors for me!

Here's an experiment I haven't seen done. You know the Kai razor blades are a bit longer than the standard, would they in a mild Henson razor make it feel like a Hensen AL+++ aggressive?

It would just cut more efficiently. It would’ve had no problem with four days of growth. It definitely wouldn’t be as aggressive as the plus plus plus version of the Henson.
