douglas,how you explain the ttx and ease of how you preform the overhaul,, it is a masters class. plus you have the correct tools and equipment. no ajustable wrenches , nor cresents ,or slip pliers. but the exact right tools for the job..done by the book. great video. hope i can watch when you dino my new shock you ordered. thank you for the lesson , bob

Awesome analysis. Please do a video on the R/T DFV struts. Operation, bump stop and single versus other double adj struts.

I am so busy I haven't had time to make a new video. My opinion is that double adjustability on single tube shocks is a scam as the so called compression adjuster is not very powerful (the amount of change depends on the shaft size vs the piston size) and even if you could get some adjustability it affects pressure balance of the shock. TTXs have a lot of adjustability without making the shock unhappy but once it is right it is my opinion you never have to change it. My TTX40s on my race car came with 4 way adjustments and I changed them out to 2 way. I don't use bump stops.

@@theohlinsguy4649 Thx and busy is a great thing. When you can, if you can show why and if the DFV is a good street/track car shock and why they come with bump stops and you feel they may not be necessary.

Good Day Sir Great Videos very informative I'm looking for a rear shock for a Ducati Monster1200 with a spring for my weight my weight is 230 lbs. , 40 years riding sport bikes , some track days sprinkled in . Can you also give me some advise on a spring for the forks and any other mods to match the rear . Many many years ago I us to have a acquaintance Jon Cornwell who was a Ohlins rep and tech in Ontario , Canada Keep up the great work

Just an FYI if you never figured out why, the reason you torque at 90 degrees in relation to the tool is because it doesn’t change the length of the torque wrench. Therefore, you have the correct torque amount. If you were to torque it with the tool and torque wrench inline with each other it would increase the length of the torque wrench and your torque numbers wouldn’t be correct.

There is no standard valving that I know of. If you give me the Ohlins part# I could send you a spec sheet for that shock, strut or fork. Just email me with the shock# at [e-mail] shock that I am working on in the video came with a .15mm stack and a 9mm x 1.5mm clamping shim.

Nice Douglas! Quick question. What is the difference between leaving the damper with the shaft extended or letting the vacuum machine act on it?

Hi Douglas. I don't really know. I think it is so there is more area for the vacuum to suck down and there is a vacuum in the total area that the oil has to go. I use to just let the shaft suck in under vacuum but when the guys from Ohlins in Sweden were here using my shop I was told that extending the shaft was the best way to do it. I have to believe they know what they are talking about!!

Hi Stefan. I have a new automatic filling machine that presets the pressure so I don't see the pressure but I believe it is around 40lbs
