I first heard about Ohm Acoustics while speaker shopping in 1978. I heard the model F at a Tech Hifi store in NYC. I was very impressed with the model H but lacked the $700+ for a pair. I bought the model L's and still use them. Three years ago I acquired a pair of model H's for $275 (pair) and they sound sublime. I still wouldn't have room for the F's but they were my first experience with omnidirectional speakers in 1978. Like me, Ohm Acoustics was born in Brooklyn. Nice video.

OHM-F's are without question one of the finast speakers ever made

@Teknogod17 I think you probably heard an Older pair of OHM-F's since they are now 40 years old. Listen t a rebuilt/new pair by dale harder of HHR exotic, he brings back the original sound. He is at all of the audiophile shows. Or go read an article about them. The modification done above to them seems to be rather strange, and certainly has negatively affected them. I have a pair of the newer OHM-F's made by OHM. They cannot compare to thje older OHM-F's. John (owner now of OHM) made them to capitalize on the name.... which he apparently can't stop hearing about the old models. new models, they are built much cheaper. Even he will tell you so. The Original OHM-F's were expensive and difficult to build. Which is why he stopped making them.

@Teknogod17 Your in Luck, I own 2 pairs of the original OHM-F's , A pair of HHR exotic version of the OHM-F's by Dale Harder and one pair of the newer OHM's, they are not the same as the older OHM-F's, and do not use the same principle and have a crossover. You must work for John in Brooklyn eh? I am not saying anything bad about the newer built OHM speakers, they just cannot compare to the Older OHM-F's if they are in decent shape. That is an issue as you correctly pointed out. However there are several reputable speaker repair shops that you can find on the internet which will repair the original OHM-F's speakers. They are in business solely because the original OHM-F's are still in high demand after all these years. Imagine that! So I am certainly not the only person who feels, that the original OHM-F's are among the best sounding speakers ever made. Just ask German-Physics which sells a pair of speakers very similar to the OHM-F's ( they admit this on their website) for $33,000 per pair. And thats their CHEAPEST version!

@Teknogod17 Its true that there are many modern speakers with greater sensitivity/efficiency, better high frequency response, and/or deeper bass response. I own a pair of F's with a set of custom base risers that were included with my purchase ten years ago. The risers are same inside wood, veneer, and construction style as the F cabinets - they look "factory built." I sent John at Ohm a photo. He thinks they must have been a prototype or a custom one-off build - he had never seen or heard of these risers previously. My speakers were restore 12 or 13 years ago by Bill Legall at Millersound. Look him up - legendary master speaker rebuilder. I listened to Ohm Fs back in the day. These sound just as good to me but they need a LOT of power. I currently drive them with a McIntosh MC452 amp rated to produce 450 wpc into any impedance load (4,8 or 16.) Being a McIntosh power amp, it is safe to say that it pushes out over 500 wpc when driven hard. I never thought that my Fs sounded as good as they should until; I upgraded to this amp (previous amps included a McIntosh MC2205 at 200 wpc and a Yamaha M-85 which produced 330 wpc into 4 Ohm loads.) I paid $1100 for the pair with the risers - ten or eleven years ago. Could I buy better speakers today for $4000 to $5000 per pair? Yes, but I challenge anyone to find me better speakers than my pair for $1K or $2K.

@Teknogod17 I said that I love them, and would never part with the pair that I own. Yes the imaging is fantastic. And yes there are speakers out there that are better - no question about that. I'm not the person who said that they are the best in the world. That was someone else on this thread

Please tell more of the Ohm F's you have there. They've obviously been modified with a built-up wood structure around the lower paper section of the cone, why is that? Also, are those tweeters sitting on top of each driver? Were you trying to add something to the higher frequencies that the Ohm's lack? I have a pair of original F's and have enjoyed them immensely.
