This female Canadian singer has my heart, she agreed with Elize Ryd another singer to bail out Nightwish in their hour of need in Denver and fill in for the than singer of Nightwish that was too sick to perform back in 2012 ❤❤❤ (The rest of the band is Swedish like Sabaton)

I'm not a metalhead but I know what she is singing about: power of the strong, hatred, individual thinking and not being a weak sheep in a herd like religious people are often seen in those circles. Eagle is the king of birds which flies above small creatures who are bound to earth, occasionally just to snatch one of them for feed.

@@prs149 Its always difficult when a band member "gets replaced" . Angela was amazing and had a bit more growl in her voice. Making her awesome sounding. And Alissa brings in something new which totally works for me aswell. I see it alot with the band Nightwish aswell. Everyone loved Tarja and she was amazing. Then she got replaced by Anette, and she was totally different but it worked it was just a different sounding band then. And then later Floor Janssen came and for most she is the embodyment of what Nightwish should be. I think she is perfect. But still people are "but Tarja...." All were good. same with arch enemy. they are all really good just a bit different.

In her previous bands, Alyssa made "regular" rock vocals, or operatic (Nightwish style). But in Arch Enemy, she's following the growing (fry vocals) of the previous vocalist, Angela Gossow (who's manager of the band and has solo work and colabs). Growling, without technique, blows the vocal chords, damages the larinx, but Alyssa know how to do it properly.

Arch Enemy's 1st vocalist was Angela Gossow, which I call "Blonde Viking Shieldwoman" (1 of the 1st female growlers, who personally chose Alyssa for her clean vocals, stage presence and growling skills. Now Gossow's the manager of the band and married to one of the members) "My Apocalipse", "Under Black Flags We March", "Do or Die" (Amaranthe feat. Angela Gossow). If I'm not mistaken Angela Gossow manages Amaranthe and some other 4 or 5 bands, one Alisssa featured in a song.

So glad to watch you react to a great female Metal vocalist like Alissia. Try Jinjer if you haven't. Or try the previous Arch Enemy vocalist Angela Would you believe they're vegans don't drink or smoke and are all super cool people. Alissia has a lot of anarchist environmental and feminist leanings, Angela is more anarchist and Jinjer (Tatiana is the singer) is more varied.

I don't know ,saying Tatiana is better,maybe you're not privy to Alyssa's previous group the Agonist, since you misspelled Alyssa's maybe/ maybe not, I just don't like people who say this person is better than that person, I'd rather people say they have a preference, some people prefer chocolate some people prefer vanilla, doesn't necessarily make one better than the other

Relax first and eat the chocolates you want. PS I love the Agonist as well and I can say (opinion or not) that Alyssa's singing was much better than Vicky's! Who is good but not up to the level of greats like Alyssa or Tatiana - whose singing IS more varied in Jinjer than Alyssa'sn in Arch Enemy - fact not opinion (Reason to Believe can't change that fact)

Most female growlers are very fit. They use well their diafragm and lungs, press them with abdominal muscles and the velocity of air coming out vibrate the larinx, vocal chords and even neck bones to produce the growling. but they're not moving the vocal chords per se. Angela White- Gluz uses the same air velocity exhale but she's also able to distort the vocal chords properly distorting high notes (difficult to do).She has great clean vocals, she sang in Amaranth and Agonist and has a clean vocal song in Arch Enemy too.

Try Nervosa out. South American all woman thrash band. Or scare the shite out of yourself and look up Diamanda Galas' plague mass or any Jarboe album. Made out of babies another band with a solid woman singer/screamer, although she's a bit Harley Quinn. She did a beautiful album with Cult of Luna a few years back called Mariner. Also did a very twisted supergroup called Battle of Mice. Lyrics dripping in mental illness. Konvent: Danish all woman death/doom band with some serious gutterals. Debut lp came out end of January with some tasty hypnotic riffing. Oceans of slumber : texan band that are criminally unknown. Singer has a gorgeous deeper voice and she's lovely in person (met her in the crowd whilst they were supporting Swallow the Sun). Rolo Tomassi : uk post hardcore band with a woman on vocals who can scream more visciously than most black metal dudes. And she can put most pop singers to shame when not screaming. Agoraphobic Nosebleed have a female guitarist/vocalist. Kylessa had the same. Electric wizard (heaviest band in the universe) the singer's wife is the guitarist. Arch Enemy are cool, saw em end of last year supporting Amon Amarth. They were damn good.
