I played this game for years in my childhood (5 years or more). I was a modder, and I can say that was not nearly as comprehensive as the developper DC made it sound in the comments. That was barely 60% at most. The golden era was when there was at least 300 players online at once. It was cra-zy.

@@Botix330 Yeahh, like a full on RPG tibia game with moving monsters, drop items, levels and missions. Or roleplay with weapon/armor shops, money system and exchange system (+ police, jobs, death..). Or a ninja town that imitates minecraft with actual (pretty graphic) ninjutsu skills, upgrades, etc. Or a fking fullon jail and terrorists have to escape in ANY WAY possible. There was also monster escape (where all sides have to cooporate in a limited time to successfully win the game), or amongus, and murder mystery as well. The CTF is massively underrated in this video tbh, with the construction ability, the game often takes hours to finish like a game of rope where both sides keeps pulling the rope which takes massive skill and team cooperation. The real fun in this game is in the creativity of the playerbase and diversity of the servers, not just shooting each other for 10 rounds and calling it a day. Kinda like roblox in some way but in 2D, in different mechanics and completely different kind of players...

cs2d was dope, the map editor...making custom maps and game modes with the script tools was dope.

I still remember when I used to make mod's for it back in 2005. I didn't made too much with it, but my favourite stuff was when I reskinned the whole game with pacman and ghosts, made a recreation of pacman layout, and filled the level with grenades. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but I had months worth of fun with those silly tweaks and even released it online. The mod is no longer compatible with modern windows, but I still have few videos about it on a secondary channel.

Yeah. Played this in 2006 in high school. It was a small file, so we put all the game files in the Microsoft word file, renamed as "bin.exe". I only ever played on LAN A friend and I installed half life into a few machines and nearly got expelled. It was the hight of "games made my child murderous". So parents went mental when they found out their kids were playing something gory at school. Fail

The reason Conter Strike has no "MODS" button in the menu is because it is the mod!! Half-Life is the original one and had plenty of mods as well as a mod entry in the menu (at least after installing the first one). CS was "just" a mod in the beginning. Played the very first betas when you could rush in the beginning of a round and grab the guns from the previous round because they were still there :-) good old times...

ofc these zoomers dont know rcon password, when we played 1.6 and earlier back then in 2004/2006 you had your own server, maybe through a clan, and used a HLTV software to operate your server. rcon password was something you got in touch with on the daily basis. good old gamers irc times.
