I really liked that you discussed what you loved, what you learned, and what you might want to change next time. It really gives a fuller picture of your work and your process. Hooray to being & embracing a lifelong learner, and passing it along through sharing it here with us! Thank you also for sharing the artists you've been learning from. Wow, favorites, tough decision! I'd say mine are the glass house, the Masters studies and the oranges.

It’s important to give yourself ‘caring critiques’ it’s also easy to beat ourselves over a simple mistake when in actual fact that mishap has much do teach us & we can learn for our next practice.

Fantastic sketchbook. I’m in awe and couldn’t possibly pick a favourite. What I’ve learnt is that I don’t need ALL the colours. Your use of a limited colour palette is so impactful. Thanks so much for sharing xx

There are many advantages to using a limited colour palette. This might be something I explore in the future video as it helps you from overworking and you’re able to complete pieces much faster.

Ohn Mar, this is a gorgeous sketchbook. I love the rooster...so lively and such wonderful colors. I also love your landscapes, and the fisherman is pretty special. It’s always lovely to hear from you Eva. I hope to demo some of my landscape techniques when we are in France. Timed studies were a huge part of life drawing lessons as a art student because they’re SO important for decision making and simplifying to essentials

I've just discovered you and I love your style and your colours! In this sketchbook, my absolute favourite is the one with the cherries: I love, love the colours and the vividness due to the swing of the cherry stems! That's what makes a stilllife "unstill" so to speak, and it makes me smile. Thanks for showing! Sybille

Oh wow Ohn Mar. What a gorgeus sketchbook. I really loved those first few pages. The ones that looked like a story. Absolutely amazing. I loved how you left a bit of boarder around your pages and had a little color swatch. All in all there is beautiful variation in this sketchbook, landscapes, still life, figure drawings. Just gorgeus. And I immedietly recognised that Icelandic church. I'm pretty sure it's the little black church in Búðir (Budir). It's been on my list of things to paint for ages.
@OhnMarWinArt Жыл бұрын
I agree, the 'narrative' pages are quite special. I might have to do a few spreads of just Icelandic landscapes as they are so unique and inspiring. Maybe we can collab with that?

I love #2 with the limited color pallet, I love the whole spread on those pages, actually. But I have to say, my eye was drawn to your use of color in that white winter scene early on. I love the WAY you use color, combined with your generally loose style! I appreciate how open you are to still being a student of watercolor and of other artists, despite already being a talented and successful artist yourself. I don't feel like I've come across that attitude in many other artists. I am learning from your paintings the value of white space. I would love to better understand how you use color and how you stay so loose. Thank you for sharing your yourself and your beautiful art with us, Ohn Mar! ❤

Yay I'm so glad you find my open approach refreshing and video helpful. I aim to be honest and don't pretend to have all the answers. I'm just a fellow creative on this journey like you. Maybe I should create a video about leaving white space - let me know
