These are so lovely! I really like the idea of devoting a sketchbook to the exploration of one thing. It’s so nice to see the evolution of that subject, plus it takes some of the "what shall I paint" procrastination out of the equation!

You are the epitome of a loose, fun style. I want to get to this point some day. Breaking free from overworking and instead painting freely and faster is a dream goal. I get lost in the details and want to have joy in the expression instead. Thank you for a lovely sketchbook tour. I just found your profile the other day and am truly inspired.

Love these! Always enjoy hearing your take on things. And actually the two at the beginning that you thought were "muddy" were some of my favorites. That ship 🥰

Have you read the book The Artists Way? It has pretty much the same philosophy. I’m going through it now and it’s helping me a lot to free myself from those thoughts

This may be the perfect solution to the blank page conundrum. I’ve not used a Gelli plate this way, but I’m certainly inspired!

I always love your excitement! You're fun to listen to. I have tried the paint sticks on more than one occasion in the past and hated them. Just do not get along. But I know other people love them so...🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you so much for this inspiring video! I found out about you from Jackie Hernandez, who used this video as her inspiration. Your gift for shape and color is wonderful, I’m going to try this…love the homes and birds that you did as well as the people. Drawing en plein air is a comfortable process for an art lover and maker 👌

I have always loved those textures in your paintings, but when I've tried to paint directly in my sketchbook, I think about it too much. But the gelli plate definitely makes it very random. I'll have to try it!

Love all your videos, Ohn Mar, and also very much enjoy your tutorials on Skillshare, too. Sorry to be a bit picky, but today I did the find the music overly loud and I could not you hear what you were saying hardly at all. Using the Gelli plate as you did here was quite unusual and very interesting for using as backgrounds as you showed us. I love the gel press plate and you have inspired me to get mine out from the drawer and have a play again ! Enjoy Edinburgh!! 🤗🤗

I use a gelli plate for surface design on my ceramics and for collage papers, but I never thought about applying it directly to a sketchbook page! I especially love the idea of dedicating one sketchbook to it. Thank you for sharing! (By the way: when I use a new gelli plate, I have to apply cornstarch to it to "prime" it to get rid of that water repellent effect-- just sharing in case that helps someone! It will eventually build up a layer of paint and become "seasoned," regardless. I find that gelli plates get better the longer you have them/the more you print on them.)

Ohn Mar, I always find your videos so inspiring. I have been slowly working my way through a sketchbook, in which I used your idea of pre-colouring the page. I’m loving it….although I am somewhat cheating by looking through and choosing the page which I think best suits the subject. I have bought some lino squares and want to get into printing…I really love some of the marks and textures that you can get….looking forward to you Edinburgh sketchbook tour 😊

Was nice to see you in Koosje's social media content 😊. I look forward to hearing about your experiences in Edinburgh (where I was born, and went to Art College). I'm about to treat myself to a Gelli plate and I'm enjoying seeing how other people use them. (I used to be a commercial screen printer, so a return to printing for me too)
