Each of them, when they first get the package, relaxes and drops their guard - creating an opportunity for one of the others. The first round of 'steals' involve harmless ruses which only seem to threaten violence. The next round of 'steals' escalates to actual violence. Great song and great vid.

Thank you, dear Muff! I've looked for these wonderful lyrics for years, decades!! Loved the surreal atmosphere in the words. I'm humming this song for years, decades. Got the CD in the U.K. when it was released while I was on a business trip as a journalist. This is one of the greatest songs in the universe. I took it as a message. to get away with things..

I heard it as "A Roman road" and "A slap, a lover" - really not sure what that is that they're saying - it doesn't quite sound like Sounds of China but I've tried "sun ain't shining" or "suns and chimes" and those don't work, either.
