I discovered a fun use of OI. Track - it will recognize pictures taken with my phone! I had taken some images with my Olympus and a couple with my phone. All showed up with the push pin. I have since turned on Track and shot a bunch of photos with just my phone. The images appeared just like they were taken with my EM1. Nice!

Thanks for the video. The app and connection work great on my EM5 III. Love the bluetooth connection too. The only question I have is what do you do with the RAW file once you've imported to your cellphone? There is a file in a folder named Olympus. iOS photos doesn't open it of course. Neither does the OI.Palette and neither does Snapseed. I would love to work on a raw file in Snapseed but I'm not able to figure out the workflow.

Thanks for the Apps review, I have DL them but have not really used them yet. Just like the camera menus there seems to be a lot of adjustable features. which can get confusing at times. How do you feel that the Olympus apps compare to the one that comes with the smartphone? Own an older Sony bridge 30X zoom camera with built in GPS , Olympus should add that to all their cameras so you don't need a smart phone to add it, like it when i know where the photos are taken.

I use Panasonic micro-four-thirds with lots of vintage lenses -- including classic Nikon F-mount glass -- and the Fotodiox adapters are inexpensive and work great -- just remember that most everything is manual. Not just focus, but aperture also -- I typically set my camera to Aperture-Priority and even though it cannot detect electronically what the aperture of the lens is set to, it can read the light coming through the lens and adjust the shutter speed accordingly.

The wifi share piece is one thing that I find painful with Olympus compared to working with Nikon's software. (I don't know about others) On a Nikon you create a connection once - at that point anytime you turn on the camera it can automatically connect, it will import photos in the background if you want. It sounds like the bluetooth enable Olympus is a little more similar. remote capture is a great option with these and it is such a nice way to do the special types of connections. So cool stuff but can improve.

It could be a great app actually, unfortunately, even with the latest firmware, there are glitches in the WiFi connection. But what is really buffling is the inability to transfer RAW images from any Olympus camera. There should be no limitation on this technically speaking, as Eye-Fi and FlashAir cards can easily do it. Displaying live camera images in the field for nature guides and educators Clarifications and corrections to my previous comment: There are two Olympus software applications that can be used: The OLYMPUS IMAGE SHARE app (“OI.Share” for short) is an smartphone app that works with Apple, Android and Windows smartphones and tablets. It may not work on devices that have somewhat old operating system versions. If you cannot download the app from the respective app store onto your device, this probably means that the operating system on your device is too old to run it. I have a Samsung Android tablet made in 2015, and in December 2020 its operating system is too old, despite being updated to the 2017 operating system. Thus, I must run the app on my newer Apple iPhone. Contrary to what I stated in my earlier comment, it IS possible to use the camera’s autofocussing and image stabilization (!) on the smartphone. This is accomplished by previously activating continuous autofocusing and image stabilization in the camera’s settings. When you are running OI.Share, however the camera’s own display and controls will not work. You can take a picture and make a few basic setting changes, but you must do so from your smartphone screen. Digital zoom will not work, but you can take a picture then zoom in on picture details using your smartphone/tablet. The Wi-Fi range, incidentally, seems to be about 5 meters, but might be somewhat different with your setup. Being able to take pix remotely from your smartphone might be useful. The other application is OLYMPUS CAPTURE, which must be installed on devices using full Windows or full Apple operating systems. The connection to the camera is via the USB cable that comes with the camera or one of comparable quality if you want a longer cable. I don’t know what the maximum workable length might be. Something to investigate and test. There are two main advantages to going this route: First, Capture lets you control pretty much everything from EITHER your camera OR your notebook computer. Second, the notebook computers that would be used with Capture typically have larger screens than tablets. This would definitely be the way to go for larger groups of viewers. I am “pretty sure” that Capture will also work with certain so-called tablet devices, provided that they use Windows or Mac operating systems that are sufficiently recent. A nice lightweight compromise might be to use Capture on a 12-inch tablet, assuming it’s operating system can handle Capture (iPad, Windows Surface). Investigate this before buying any new computing equipment in order to run Capture. Also consider how weather-resistant your setup will need to be.
