LOVE you guys~ My latest sample is on the way to you!

What's nice is that Blackstone laboratories will actually include this on their analysis. They will also tell you if you can go longer or need an oil change. They have a KZbin channel as well

Just sent mine in! Interested to see where my 2017 109k mile Camaro SS stands. I did find the smallest of flakes on the magnetic oil drain plug.

Did you get good results ?
@pali1H Жыл бұрын
@@BankaiZber43 yeah definitely. I've done 3 total so far. One had excessive fuel in the oil but was glad to find out it was because I took the sample after the car was sitting cold for a day. I did hot oil on the next sample and fuel contamination was normal range. Normal wear items for the rest considering milage. I now have 122k miles.

@@pali1H I just sent my trans fluid in so I’m waiting on the results *46k miles currently on my 2017 lol

@@BankaiZber43how were your results?
@BankaiZber439 ай бұрын
@@pali1H it came out good according to them, the mechanic that did it put the fluid in a water bottle so the viscosity couldn’t be tested but no shavings or anything bad thank you for checking back in 🙏

Too slow to process, I'm on week 4 after delivery confirmation and still no results. I'll be looking at your competition.

I just got my results, took 6 weeks from day of putting in the mail until I got the email with results. Two weeks of that time was USPS delivery to the lab. I wish it was faster too, but I'm really happy with report structure and comments. I'll use Black stone again.

I never seem to be able to catch a sample that neatly. And had never considered using silicone seal to secure the cap. I usually have to clean the outside of the container with brake clean before packaging it. So does that (brake clean) affect anything? Yes, I do that with the lid secured.
@M-t3ch2 жыл бұрын
I have used brake clean on paper towel or a rag to clean the outside of it and it hasn't been an issue for my test results. Blackstone could confirm this but as long as it doesn't get in the oil I can't imagine it would be a problem.
@blackstonelaboratories Жыл бұрын
Cleaning the outside of the sample bottle with break clean won't affect the results, but do it gently. Getting break clean in the oil could lead to false positives for fuel dilution.

Use a FUMOTO valve. Thank me later.

The first time I sent my Oil sample in everything went great! >My results using Amsoil Signature Series was fantastic results. The second time my results never made it as the local post office must have damaged the container so this was a waste of money. Third time post office contacted me to say they don't accept waste oil in the mail. So I contacted another Lab. They use UPS to send samples to them! John

Could i use an old oil or Lucas bottle i cut off to catch a sample then transfer the 3 oz to the sample jar?

I have the privilege of doing my oil changes on a lift, and thus have to start the engine for a few seconds before getting the sample. Will this affect my results too much? Sending my first sample in soon!!
@thromboid Жыл бұрын
My understanding is it that it could increase the fuel content of the oil and that it's best to avoid if possible. They recommend noting it on the form if you do start the engine just before sampling.

I have a 1.0 ecoboost that has been known to have the internal oil emersed belt degrade and clog the pick up. Will this sample be able to confirm the belt residue is in the pan without having to drop it?
@blackstonelaboratories11 ай бұрын
Good question! A deteriorating timing belt likely won't show up in analysis because many are polyurethane/rubber. However if the oil pickup becomes partially clogged, we may see poor wear due to insufficient lubrication.
@holden3315 Жыл бұрын
Not only opening the bottle in the open which allows contaminants in. But taking a oil sample from the bottom any systems' reservoir will not give you an accurate sample. I would be willing to bet those aren't ultra-clean bottles either.
@thromboid Жыл бұрын
Those are fair concerns. I would think that as long as the contaminants aren't wear metals or dirt, it shouldn't affect the results in terms of reported elements at least. FWIW they do advise sampling mid-stream if possible. I would still want to know if there are excessive wear metals present, even if the sample is skewed toward bottom sediment.

Nah….oil pan is what holds all the sediment and skews the test readings. Take the sample from the fill tube with a pump if possible.
