I can't imagine taking a vehicle to a shop for something so simple as an oil change. Being mechanically inclined is obviously a blessing

if its only $30 extra then sometimes its worth it to avoid getting under your car in the middle of winter and having to deal with old oil

amazing that Ford didn't figure out to put access openings in the underside panel. My 2011 Sonata has a little clip held "door" that lets me access the drain plug without pulling off the entire panel. So much easier.

My 2010 has these openings. Guess they got rid of them.

Yah I’ve got the 2.5 L 15 Fusion SE and manual says 5.7 quarts and I filled it with the whole 5 quart container and about half a quart more . I’ve ran it for several minutes then shut it off and waited for half an hour and still past the maximum mark .. almost 1/2 inch past the max
@dpo8bwee7 ай бұрын
Did you jack it up from one jack point? I'm wondering if the excess oil was pooled and couldn't drain because the engine was at a slight angle instead of flat.
@CombatDoc545 жыл бұрын
Yes!! Thank God. Finally, the 6th video that I watched and finally someone was smart enough to use clean oil for the new filter's gasket.

I'm happy to help. Watch for the next free tool giveaway coming soon.
@nodak813 жыл бұрын
Why? Please explain how it makes any difference if the oil is clean or dirty. The oil doesn't help make a seal in any way, the purpose is just to lightly lube the gasket to keep it from bunching up while it's being tightened.
@ohheydarciemae11213 жыл бұрын
@@nodak81 the oil does help create a seal with the vehicle. I've always used the old oil but if there are metal filaments in the old oil (from your engine) it may not only prevent a seal but it could create small cuts in the gasket and compromise its integrity. The last thing you want is for oil to drain out of your car unintentionally.

You usually don't get to touch the transmission fluid on newer vehicles. Car companies seal off the transmission

@@ohheydarciemae1121 for the fusion you should do it every 30-60k
@miscellaneous037 Жыл бұрын
@07fordescape This reply is only 4 years late, but for the sake of others reading this in 2023 or later, the transmission fluid filter in some of these Ford Fusion transmissions is installed inside the transmission and requires taking the transmission apart to replace it. At around 10:10 in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/en2yanZ9i7GpbtU, the guy from Whats Next Garage show and describes how to replace the filter.

Why do you start it before checking the level? Does that coat the engine and then tell you if there's enough oil?
@LockheedStarliner3 жыл бұрын
Hi Darcie... good question. The main reason for starting the engine before checking the oil level is that the new oil filter will need about 1/2 a quart of oil to fill it. On vertical oil filter installations like this one, I always like to prefill the oil filter with oil. It's not necessary, but a good practice. Also when checking the oil level using a dipstick, try and use a lint-free cloth. This helps in keeping the oil system as clean as possible.

I always depress the fuel pedal to the floor then while holding it there, I turn the engine over for about 5 seconds, the engine will not start and the oil is primed. Reason the engine will not start is because of wot (wide open throttle).

What kind of filter? Size?
@googleusergp4 жыл бұрын
My nephew's 2016 Fusion 2.0L uses an FL910S Motorcraft filter which is readily available at Walmart or online through Amazon. Make sure whatever filters you use have a silicone anti-drain back valve (that's what the "S" means in the Motorcraft number) as that's what's required by Ford. Otherwise, you risk engine oil starvation/damage to the engine. The OEM filter (which is made for them by someone, probably Champion Labs) is cheap enough and easy to find.

@rs720984 жыл бұрын

@ivanhuizar44124 жыл бұрын
I agree that it is very inconvenient to have but that cover is there to provide a more aerodynamic ride. It will give you better gas mileage too. As a new Ford Fusion owner I see it as just another few screws to undo
@nodak813 жыл бұрын
Just leave the cover off. You'd be lucky if that thing saved you $10 in gas over the entire lifetime of the car.

The little bolt I should be able to “break lose” isn’t moving at all. Idk if it’s stripped or something but I seriously can’t move this shit at all and it’s pissing me off.
@cvaldes1143 жыл бұрын
Use pb blaster for any bolts. Works everytime
@ohheydarciemae11213 жыл бұрын
Also, make sure you're using a 6 point socket instead of a 12. That gives more contact with the bolt and will prevent stripping.

You’re supposed to put some oil in the filter before putting a filter on the car.

You can but it's not necessary. It will fill bro don't panic. Lol.
@danweitzel40705 жыл бұрын

@darring.91615 жыл бұрын
You can only do that if the Filter screws in, in an upright position. Otherwise, you'll make a helluva mess. It isn't necessary to fill the filter, just top up the oil as it gets displaced by the air in the new filter!
@brentbrown97284 жыл бұрын
This is opinion only. No way you can tell me that the .25 quart of oil that the filter holds will make a lick of difference. Filter will have oil in it before the car cranks over.
