Nice new unit and install Steve...and in a week no one will notice or care about the expansion tank where it is ; ) ... I also like that you elevate all your new work a few inches off the floor ... and that's a good idea to use up most of the oil in the old leaky tank ... that way the change out will be quicker, easier a few weeks down the road and your sister will be worry free for awhile ... all kidding aside, I find your video's quite relaxing ... I like to watch them after dinner and walking my pooch (90lbs) ... sad to loose an old friend/pet, but little Miss Molly is a keeper for sure, best part about leaving the Pooch home is that look on their faces when you finally do get back home ... you can see the loyalty in her eyes and how much she loves/appreciates you ... and she sure took to her role as co-pilot quickly ... looks so content checking out the scenery .... as a builder I always brought my well behaved, well trained dogs to work with me (weather permitting) ... although my Spinone Italiano's were lunch/sandwich thieves ... and my guys learned not to go to the Port-O-John and leave their lunch unattended (I did replace stolen sandwiches) Spins are very sweet and often goofy dogs .. they entertained us all day long

Is that tank a "Storage Tank" or an indirect water heater? Looking like an indirect water heater where the heat exchange takes place inside the tank rather than the hot water storage tank that just stores heated water directly from the boiler. I'm just starting to figure out the difference and was looking to confirm that I've got it correctly understood.

Surely when your commissioning the boiler you have a data page on the manual that you go to get your numbers correct for perfect combustion. In Europe you have to set it to the manufacturers recommendation and send the print out of the combustion test and boiler passport back to the manufacturers so you can get the warranty from the manufacturer. This cuts out the cowboys and DIY experts. Hope this makes sense.

It's a pleasure to watch, but why do the companies charge 8k to do this job? I means the boiler is a couple grand... do the plumbers really walk away with 5 grand for half a day's work. Am I missing something here? I live in the north east. I found a company to replace my boiler. They stared at 18k... then got down to 12k. Then I looked up the boiler they'd install, and for me, it's 2500.. I'm sure they get them cheaper. So i kicked the sales guy out, because how the hell can any company drop 5k like that? What if I was an old lady and said yes to the first quote?! The company is called Horizon,and if you live in the Philly area, avoid them, they are robbers and snake oil salesmen. So I found another company, a mom and pop company, and they come over. I show them the pic of the boiler. Hell, I even say I'll buy it and have it delivered. Sure, no problem, they say. 4 to 6 hours work. Ok. How much? 5k..... so what am I missing??? Do plumbers make $1000 an hour for boiler work? If so I'm changing my career- not to a plumber, but to one of those scam investiagors to lock these guys up for robbery!! What's the deal?
@HamAround234 жыл бұрын
Have to also add in the cost of materials to trim out the boiler. The boiler is 2500 but then you left out new circs, valves, shutoffs, controls and if your adding a indirect that's almost as expensive as the boiler.
