Oil Change 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma | 2016-2023 | Easy Maintenance

In this video I'll show you how to change the oil on your 3rd gen tacoma 3.5L v6 engine. (Not sure if the process is the same for the 2.7L trim, so do your own research!)

How often are you changing your oil?

Every 5k miles. I know that technically you can go longer with modern synthetics, but I want to take this thing to 500k miles lol

@@tacosauce4x4 Quite a bit different than changing oil and filter in my 2008 SR5. I guess the Toyota engineers determined that this set up would be better than the 2nd gen. Thanks for the video.

It’s probably not lol. I’ve had to use a heat gun to get the filter cap off twice now. I’m about to switch it to aluminum and see if that helps

My 2023 says 6.2 quarts. It wouldn’t feel right just putting six in lol

Check the dipstick before doing that. 6.2 is maximum fill. When you drain the oil it doesn’t totally empty it, so there will be residual oil in there.

I have never torqued a drain pan bolt ever. Useless in my opinion.

I think the torque spec exists just so that some caveman with an impact wrench doesn’t over do it and strip the threads off the reservoir
