Owner’s manual says, especially on trucks with a full size spare tire, to include the spare tire in the rotation. When I measured, at the current rate of wearing the tread, I could easily reach 65,000 miles with still 2/32-inch to spare with my Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT tires doing a 5-tire rotation.

He mentioned there was a two-year window for free "upgrades," but I missed this announcement that was made somewhere on the internet. My intention was to save money by reflashing, not spend more. It would have been helpful if Matt had sent an email during the upgrade window to inform customers. I feel that Matt is dishonest, and I regret spending any money with him. Great video. I'm planning to purchase and install one myself as well. What did you use to seal the canopy to the bed rails? Camper shell tape, silicon caulking, etc? If you used tape, did you apply the sticky side to the canopy or bed rails or does it matter? Any hints on the install besides finding a buddy to help? Thanks!
@tacosauce4x4Ай бұрын
Hey thank you! So you don’t need any sort of tape. The canopy comes with a rubber seal attached to the bottom edge that sits on the bed rails. If you do want it to be water tight(ish) I would say grab some caulking for the corners of the bed closest to the cab. The Tacoma bed has some small gaps there that can let water through.

Most if not all intakes now days are cold air intakes from factory. Even a 2003 Tacoma with the 5vz had a cold air intake. I remember not being married and not having kids and waste a ton of cash trying 3 aftermarket intakes. At first you think they work because of the sound, after a while you start to doubt any gains. Every time I went back to stock the truck felt better. After 3 intakes I ended up just doing the elbow mod which was removing the elbow that connects the intake to the fender wall and was actually a restriction and that was free, imagine that. Now I have a 5th gen 4Runner, same thing, cold air intake from factory.

Finally someone honest 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I purchased the S&B closed air intake for my 2023 v6 Tacoma, I wasn’t expecting to get any gains from this besides a little more air flow and a better sound when I step on the gas pedal, and that is exactly what happened. Even though I don’t accelerate at top speed at every red light as if I’m driving a 4 cylinder Hyundai or a 1990 Altima, it’s nice to hear a better sound when getting on the Highway instead of that screaming cat noise that come from the OEM air filter box. One last thing my gas mileage stayed exactly the same .

Yeah I’m always upfront with the mods and reviews that I do. There’s a lot of people who will make baseless claims when it comes to performance improvements, and that does nothing but put money in the pockets of manufacturers. Never understood it.

Can you elaborate on why can't a slimline rack be installed, The canopy is to wide? Doesn't frontrunner have various sizes? I'm getting the contour installed in a few weeks was hoping to get a frontrunner rack on it.
@tacosauce4x43 ай бұрын
The dimensions of the mounting rails. They’re too wide to mount it straight on top. I had asked the distributor who I bought it from about a frontrunner rack specifically, he looked into it, and said no dice. I’m sure you could use some angled footings, but I wouldn’t risk a heavy load on that since now you’re putting torque on the mounting channels

Did you insert the full length of the pipe cleaner down those holes ? Would the brush end pop out at the bottom?
@tacosauce4x44 ай бұрын
Only about two feet of it was needed. Remember, you want to work it almost like a q-tip. The goal is to pull stuff out, not push it down. If you go too far you can definitely end up pushing the rubber grommet off of the bottom so I wouldn’t use more than half of the length of the pipe cleaner.

Looks like you live in an area that is pretty rusty! I highly recommend getting some Amsoil HD spray on metal protector and covering pretty much your entire underbody. It's super tough stuff and lasts a very long time! About one good coat a year is all you need. It's mostly clear but has a bit of an amber color to it so keep it off the body but on the underbody it's hardly noticeable and works wonders!
